Before you could legally work, how did you get your money. Allowance? Chores? Mow the lawn? Back when a CD burner was still a big thing, I made cd's for peeps, and sold Yu-gi-oh cards. I think I made more money selling Yu-gi-oh cards than I did working at gamestop. I was also the first of my friends to have a DVD burner, so porn was a very lucrative business for me.

My parents never really gave me an allowance. I think for like 2 months they were giving me $50 a week to watch after my baby sister while they were working night shift, but one of them went back to day shift pretty quick. I suspect it's because they were going broke.
I had an awesome Uncle that would give me $1 for every week that we had not seen each other. So usually when I visited him it had been a year or so since our last visit.
The most creative way I made money in high school was by selling CD's. I started taking rap seriously in 9th grade and would record "albums" in my bedroom. They really really sucked, but people bought them. I probably made 3 or $400 throughout highschool by selling albums, and I really have no idea why people paid for them. I can only guess it's so they could laugh at how bad they were. I probably didn't sell anything worth listening to until 11th grade.
Usually my folks just gave me money or bought whatever it was that I was wanting. As long as I asked several weeks in advance. If I knew a new album or video game was coming out, I would just bring it up to my mom and she would either say "yea I'll get it for you" or give me some sort of chores to do to earn the money. I really didn't ask for much outside of Christmas and birthdays though.

Allowance, plus helping my dad raise cattle. Then I started driving the tractor when I was 12.

Chores, yardwork for neighbors, animal sitting.

Normally I'd joke around and say turning tricks, but the whole Penn State scandal has me in less of a joking mood about that kind of thing.

Sometimes I received an allowance, but it wasn't on a regular occasion. In 7th grade I used to empty the other student's trays at lunch for 50 cents a tray. I also lent people money and got repaid double. I should start doing that again because I could use the money.

No one wants to admit they stole from mom, dad, grandma, etc. ? Sure its bad in retrospect but as a kid you do what you gotta do. Doesnt mean you're bad or evil. Sneaky yeah of course but in a twisted way there's sorta an art to it in that devising ways and methods to try to minimize getting caught.

Don't know about you, but my old man would have kicked the living s*** out of me had I tried. And that was back when a parent could still strike a misbehaving child. None of that "You go to jail if you even look at your kid funny" stuff.

Certainly made it more tempting.

I had an allowance. We also used to live right up the street from a grocery store where they had those locks on the carts that you need to use a quarter to unlock and then get it back when you are done-and I used to walk around the parking lot, looking for carts that people forgot to turn in and would get the quarters from them. For a while, also, my brother had a job as a DJ a at a local roller rink. I used to go there all the time, and through my bro got friendly with the managers. I was underage at the time, so they could not hire me. But they would side me five bucks under the table for running around and doing little errands like sweeping the floor or wiping down the tables for a night. I remember one manager grumbling all the time that I did not even really work there, yet I worked harder than most of the people he hired.

Grandma.... any money that I remember getting I got from her sometimes she just let me keep change when I bought something from the store for her or just gave it to me. Admittedly it wasn't like daily or weekly but it was something. Sometimes I got my cash from birthday and the rare thing bought by parent thou that was rare.

Oh yea, I also sold cigarettes in high school. Can't believe I forgot about that because it was pretty lucrative. I'd either sell them 3 for $1 or $10 a pack.

I used to get just given money, but when I got to High School, I used to buy cans of Coca Cola & Pepsi from bargain places where they had arabic & german writing on, then sell 'em for 3x the price, as my school had a ban on fizzy drinks, so I was the only way to get 'em for a while. Made a mint off of it, being able to restock and still have money left over. I got caught near the end of my 3rd year, but I'd made a decent amount and only got a slap on the wrist because they'd never caught me before. Then they ended the "prohibition" a few weeks later and I was out of business ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)
