I know we've got some metalheads here, so does anybody know of any current metal bands that don't scream or growl? I've been getting into Falling in Reverse lately (a genre I normally detest), but for a lot of their only album they scream a lot, and I have a very low tolerance level for stuff like that. So what bands are you aware of that stick to singing, but go hard at the same time? I typically like stuff like melodic metal, but whatever you got let me hear it!

Maybe Channel Zero, a great metal band from my home country Belgium. This is Hot Summer, from their recent album Feed Them with a Brick
and this is an older one, Suck my Energy

Pick up Nevermore, This Godless Endeavor, it's a fantastic album from a fantastic band, that's sadly on kind of hiatus right now, but hey, they still have a ton of albums to check out and enjoy.

I'll second Evile. The singer might be too much of a growler though depending on your tastes. They sound like a cross between Slayer and 80's Metallica.

I'll second Evile. The singer might be too much of a growler though depending on your tastes. They sound like a cross between Slayer and 80's Metallica. He's not a growler he just rips off James Hetfield. Thrash metal isnt screaming/growling but it sure isnt singing its more like shouting/barking.

Any sort of progressive or symphonic metal fits this pretty nicely. Like Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, Symphony X, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Nightwish, Ayreon, etc. Even Opeth, though it does have its share of growling and such.

If melodic metal is what you're looking for, this is the best song that's come out in about 20 years:

I'll also vouch for The Sword and Evile(Their new album blew me away).
Mastodon use a lot of clean vocals these days. IMHO They're one of (if not) the best modern Metal band out there.

Check out Fair to Midland's latest album "Arrows & Anchors". There's a handful of screams on there, but it's almost entirely clean vocals. It's also really really good.
