I dont get it, they're trying to push him as a legitimate tough guy, but the fact remains that this guy just plain sucks, has never been over, and will never be over. He was the total embodiment of the typical WCW B-player because thats exactly what he was, a B-rated performer. Tied in with the fact that he's nearing 50, the E continues to shove him down our throats when they could be pushing younger talent. If they're so itching to sign former WCW midcarders, why dont they sign Scott Norton and Horace Hogan while their at it. It would have about the same net effect. I realize the smackdown roster has been depleted in the past year or so, but couldnt they bring in someone better to replace them, then dragging this old fossil back from the wrestling graveyard? Hell, I'd rather have X-Pac back than to watch him come out to dead silence week after week. Get him the F off my TV!

I'm sorry bro, but I have to disagree. While Finlay may not have been pushed in WCW, he was/is still a good competitor. He is wrestler in the same mold as Benoit and Regal, a stiff brawler with good technical skills. Plus the 'E didn't "hire" him, he was a road agent and agreed to wrestle again. However, to criticize Finlay as a bad wrestler because he was a midcarder in WCW is ludicrous. Rey Mysterio was a midcarder in WCW, as was Chris Jericho. Need I mention that Benoit and Regal themselves were too, until late in WCW's existence. I don't really even care for Finaly, but the man can definately wrestle.

They could be giving this push to anyone from the Spirit Squad or anyone of the other talented guys from OVW. -Ian

There's a bar in downtown Detroit called the "Old Shillelagh". Sounds like a good Finlay hangout.

He's very good. Also, has a unique style. More than that, he's a brawler with a unique style. Of all the types of wrestlers out there, brawlers tend to look most the same. That's he's a different looking brawler is reason enough to push him.

Finlay just needs to develop a drinking problem and he could join the mexicools as team stereotype, but really Finlay gets a gold star in my book

Scott Norton was a good brawler, but I sure as hell wouldnt want to see him back in mainstream american wrestling. Guys like Finlay, Brian Knobbs, Scott Norton, Meng, etc... emobodied what a second rate promotion WCW was before they folded. Bringing guys like Finlay back is simply nothing more than a waste of a roster spot at this point and doesnt make any money for the company. He should stick to being a road agent because thats about all he's good for now. The guy comes out to dead silence week after week, so that should tell you something right there. At least guys like Chris Masters who originally got no heat during their first few weeks/months were given time to develop their characters which eventually got them over to a certain degree. Finlay is already a proven heat-killer, therefore I see no purpose in having him on TV every week

The thing is, SD has more than its share of faces nowadays, both experienced and up and comers. The only way for a face to survive is to have a balance of heels. And a heel, by definition needs to be violent and dastardly and get up to all the sorts of nasty behaviour that a face never would. And to not injure anybody in the process. Look at this weeks SD: the main event had pretty much all of the recognised (and experienced) heel talent there in one tag team. Who else is there? That you could trust to pull off dangerous and dangerous looking moves without causing the injury list to skyrocket even further? Finlay is being pushed as a little pit bull of an Irishman, who also has the prior experience to not go OTT. If he hadn't disappeared, I daresay they'd be giving Hardcore Holly a push as a heel as well. Fair enough if you don't like the guy, but until there is a decent stable of experienced heels to take his place, you're just going to have to put up with him.

Screw you guys, I'm going home. Good followup to the South Park/Finlay video What? That had nothing to do with it? Dammit.
