This is something I've never figured out: What's the deal with the dude in the red cap? I know he's been attending events for at least a decade, but is he just a guy that REALLY likes WWE?

I think they did a story on him once, possibly on Confidential (oh, how I miss that show) about how his wife passed away and WWE was one of the few things that lifted his spirits and that he'd always go to whatever shows he could, bringing his red cap and signs with him.
Something like that.
...Right?

Something like that. ...Right? Pretty much. He owns or owned a business here in Dallas, that gives him the income to go to most shows in the area (though he seems to either be at less and less or he's just getting bad seats). His wife passed away young and WWE was his release. He went so much that people in WWE and the wrestlers started to notice him and he became someone that they like so they help out on occasion with tickets.

I saw him at the Royal Rumble and I probably marked more for him than most the matches lol

I remember him being on "Deal or No Deal." He's become a guy who has become appreciated by fans and wrestlers. He even tried to start a campaign to become a guest RAW GM which would probably work nicely. I would take him over Johnny Ace.

I never knew that about his wife. That's sad. I've seen him at a couple of the WWE events I go to in central Illinois, it always amuses me when he's there. If I had gotten my usual seats last July, I would've been sitting right behind him while he and ADR argued. ADR stole his hat, stuffed it into his Money in the Bank briefcase, but Sign Guy had a replacement hat that he pulled out with much bravado, haha.

I still prefer the original ECW Sign Guy. He inspired one of the greatest promos of all-time.

They even put him in one of the RAW Fan Nation commercials on USA.
"You cruise barns for sheep, don't you, Murdoch!?"

Arda Ocal and Jimmy Korderas did. podcast with him a few months ago on their Aftermath/TheScore.com series. He didn't mention anything about his wife, just that he was a big fan and that the trips he takes really add up as far as costs.

Pretty sure his name is Rick and he's on Twitter, several WWE wrestlers follow him.

Having never seen either of them, I always thought he was the same guy as Sign Guy Dudley.

Sign Guy hasn't gotten as much camera time recently than he used to - I've seen him at a lot of shows where he's on the same side as the cameras - meaning no on-screen time and no signs He's a longtime fan who I've had a few bits of bantering with at shows- I'd give him a hard time when he was sitting on the wrong side (non-signs side) or would at least touch base when I'd see him at a house show. He's not employed by WWE but I know a few wrestlers have tried to help him out with tickets. ETA: a rare "Pink Hat" sign guy (the wrestlers love stealing his red hat off-camera)

I think it's really cool that he travels the country going to shows. A road trip with him would be awesome.

He's a Dallas guy, so I've gotten a chance to talk to him at several shows I've gone to in the area. If I'm on the floor or lower area, I always make a point to seek him out and say whats up.
I sat right behind him at an ECW house show in Tyler, TX in 2006, and it was an awesome time. About 90% of the wrestlers on the card would interact with him in some way.
I was also in the vacinity during the infamous "Edge Sucks" sign campaign in Dallas. Wasn't quite close enough to get one of the signs though.
He's a good guy that just loves WWE and spends his own money to go to whatever shows he can.
My favorite memory of Sign Guy is actually from a TNA house show at the House of Blues in Dallas (Sign Guy jumped ship!). Christian saw him and yelled what the hell are you doing here at him, and then took his hat and chunked it. The guy with the We Hate Cena shirt thats in the front row fairly often is also a Dallas guy. I like him a lot too, good guy.

On the similar token...what's the deal with the guy in the "We Hate Cena" shirt? In the last year or so, the same person always shows up front-row in the same one [and looks younger than Sign Guy]. Anyone know on that one?
