i'd love a year long build. what i dont want is another main event announcement followed by 10 months of nothing.

It depends. A year long build can only keep my interest if the story can continually progress unlike this year's year-long build.

Ugh. The WWE is going to be so lost when they no longer have their Attitude Era stars to fall back on.

Let's shake it up for next year...year long build indeed but it shall be...
AJ vs Undertaker. AJ will break the streak.

I like the ideas of year long builds. Even WCW managed to get the build right (even if the payoff failed) for their over 1 year long build for Hogan/Sting.
It's all about doing just enough on TV to remind you of the feud. Which Rock/Cena didn't do quite right, IMO.

Year-long builds aren't easy. You have to be able to do enough in that year to advance the storyline so it doesn't seem like it's going in circles, but you don't want it to seem like it's being shoved down the fan's throats either. It's a happy medium that can only be met wit a decent creative team, which WWE obviously doesn't have.
If I had to make a prediction on what they're going to go with, I think that one year build will be made for John Cena vs The Undertaker at next year's Wrestlemania.

So, next year's being headlined by a non-title match again?
But yeah, I don't think building a match for a year is a bad idea, but it shouldn't be announced a year in advance, and it's not something that should be done over and over again.

No thank you. WWE has shown they can't even figure out how to do a 6 week build let alone a year long build.
Just...no.

seeing how badly the build went for Cena/the Rock, I would really rather not get another one.

Punk vs Bryan could be interesting as a year long build, but I still think it's too soon for these 2 to clash at Mania.
But like others have mentioned, unless they build it like Sting vs Hogan...which was amazing outside of the actual match, no thanks.
