Is it possible they did this simply because they didn't want people to cheer Bryan and turn on Sheamus? It would have looked bad for Sheamus to be booed throughout a match where he was going to get his big WM World title win. The way they did it though there wasn't really a chance for that to happen. Sure, a lot of people were unhappy but it was basically entrances, finish then music plays so there was no opportunity for real audible booing to come across. Next month in Chicago at Extreme Rules though there's a good chance he'll be booed out the building if there's a rematch. Which is why they'll probably have the rematch before that. As for the first point, Sheamus is still over as a babyface and that has never stopped WWE from having a booed babyface win at Mania (See Triple H vs John Cena at WM 22).

Why do I feel this could learn to Sheamus showing how he can do things faster than his win over Bry, ala OJ/Benoit?

The rematch is actually going to happen on the live Smackdown. Probably for the better, I don't think people would pay to see that match again considering it only went 18 seconds at Mania and people would be scared to pay money just to have that happen again.

It made Daniel Bryan look like a jabroni It did nothing for Sheamus And Finally it made the World Heavyweight Title looking like a worthless afterthought. No one benefited from this, and a lot of things looked stupid or devalued as a result. They should have at least given them 10 minutes

It's really tragic to think how yesteryear's up and coming superstars would have fared in today's WWE booking environment.
-Would Bret Hart have been eliminated by The Haiti Kid from the Wrestlemania II Battle Royal instead of lasting until the end with Andre The Giant?
-Would Shawn Michaels have been squashed in his WM debut singles match?
-Would the Rock in 1997 have been made to look like a total tool, getting kicked in the crotch by a heel diva who took advantage of his naivety?
No. At some point, WWE Creative completely lost sight of long term booking. People like Bryan, Ryder, and Rhodes (among others) are young hungry guys that are getting over. When you book them to look increasingly stupid, or not in the same universe as Cena, Orton, or 'Taker, you are hamstringing them for the long term. I'm not saying that these guys should never lose, but there should at least be the suggestion that they belong in the conversation.
This week, we heard various news/newz items about Batista and Brock coming back. Those two, as over as they are, seem content to take or leave the business. WWE has also incurred various injuries to Main Eventers over the past year. They're using fly-in big names to cover lulls in the year when their top names are fatigued or injured. That's fine. However, it is short term.
What will happen if Orton and/or Cena go out with an injury, Barrett, Henry, Rey and Christian are still out, Rock's off making a movie, Brock doesn't want to travel, Big Dave is unmotivated, Jericho is touring, Hunter's busy with his office duties and 'Taker is resting his body? Who is going to be the believable competition for the heavily pushed guys like Punk and Sheamus. Are they going to suddenly remember that Bryan is a submission specialist and wily? Are they going to suddenly remind the audience that Cody is cerebral and ruthless? Why not pretend like the young guys matter SOMEWHAT all the time, that way, you can actually have someone to turn to when injuries come on, and you are at the mercy of prima donna fly-in talent who know that you need them more than they need you?
It's just such a stupid way of going about things.

Unless Bryan wins on the live Smackdown and Extreme Rules is the rubber match. Hopefully, instead of burying D.Bry, they use last night as a catalyst to give him more of an edge. He can drop AJ like a bad habit and gets super intense on his quest to regain the title.

If Sheamus was gonna get booed, they wouldn't have popped for his win.
