- Punk got dominated by Mark Henry AND was humiliated by Jericho. Rock promised he'd be WWE Champion again, so it's possible that Jericho may win the belt just to transition it to Rock.
- Zack Ryder was made to look like an idiot yet again.
- Alex Riley was squashed by the debuting Lord Tensai.
- Brock Lesnar made his return by laying out John Cena.
Are the present and the future being shoved aside for the past?

Henry, Jericho, and Tensai are not "the past". They are current, regular performers.

technically Lord Tensai is the future since he hasn't been seen in years and has gotten better.
Punk is fueding with Jericho right now, and I'm sure he'll kick his ass at extreme rules (chicago again).
Henry has only just recently become awesome.

I see no problem whatsoever with anything that happened this evening.

Brock and Rock I can understand. Even if that's a bit iffy to me. Tensai? Jericho? Henry? No. Those guys are full time, current performers.

And I forgot to mention the Cody/Kofi match, in which Big Show's distraction was unnecessary. They should've either let Cody win to get some heat back, or let Kofi win cleanly so that he can at least appear to be on Cody's level.

Lesnar and Cena debuted the same year. How does that make Lesnar "the past" and not Cena?

Lesnar and Cena debuted the same year. How does that make Lesnar "the past" and not Cena? They did debut the same year, but Lesnar was pushed to the moon while Cena was a non-entity during that period. Cena was a jobber to the stars until his U.S. Title win, which happened at the same event where Lesnar left the WWE.

I took this to mean young up-and-comers vs over-the-hill stars, and Cena's got a lot of years on him at this point.

I will freely admit that Ryder is not on Miz's level. But I think it's really hurting him to have him constantly playing second fiddle to main event talent. I'd rather see Ryder as a strong midcarder than a guy who gets destroyed by former champions week after week. I actually feel that Zack Ryder's career can mirror that of the Miz's with the right booking. Miz was just "The kid from MTV" until he proved everyone wrong. I think that Ryder should be given a true chance to prove that he's more than just "The kid with the YouTube show."

Mark Henry needed to look good, because they've made him look like shit for a couple of months, which is a total tragedy with the effort he put out over the last year. Good job by Punk putting him over huge, it's not like it's going to hurt Punk, he was over when he was managing Mason Ryan for crissakes.

Only one I agree with is Ryder.
IMO, Zack has much more value than Miz at this point and should be higher up the card and going over him. The WWE is lacking interesting faces, Ryder is perfect for the upper-midcard push. He's fun, decent enough in the ring and he's got a very likeable character.
Miz however, is low down the pecking order of heels.

What are you talking about? You didn't enjoy a RAW punctuated by Rock, Prince Albert, Brock Lesnar, and Mark Henry?
Good to see the youth movement alive and well, eh?

I forget which thread I said it in, but remember that picture from about 4 or 5 months back with Punk, Bryan, Ryder, Cody Rhodes, Air Boom, and Beth Phoenix as all the title holders? Sucks to see that that was just an aberration.

Tensai is part of the future, and so is The Miz. I also have no problem with Brock/Cena. It's not as if Cena is some young up and comer. He's been on top for about 7 years now and people are tired of him. Who else should he feud with?
the only one I will agree with is Big Show/Cody. They need to just let Cody move on and up the card.

It might have been punctuated by Rock, Prince Albert, Brock and Henry but the sentences were all about Punk, ZigThwag/BroTino Seamus and Bryan. So YES!, it's Good to see the youth movement alive and well.

Sucks to see that that was just an aberration. For a moment in time, it looked like there was actually going to be a changing of the guard. Instead, last night looked an episode of SmackDown from 2003. And with Vince's golden boy apparently taking time out of his acting schedule to gun for the WWE Championship, this moment in time is looking less like a sign of things to come, and more like a case of false advertisement.
