I forget which thread I said it in, but remember that picture from about 4 or 5 months back with Punk, Bryan, Ryder, Cody Rhodes, Air Boom, and Beth Phoenix as all the title holders? Sucks to see that that was just an aberration. For a moment in time, it looked like there was actually going to be a changing of the guard. Instead, last night looked an episode of SmackDown from 2003. And with Vince's golden boy apparently taking time out of his acting schedule to gun for the WWE Championship, this moment in time is looking less like a sign of things to come, and more like a case of false advertisement. 2 of those people are still champion. One of them is moving from the IC title scene to a higher place in the card it seems, Bryan's treatment was s***ty but let's see what happens......Air Boom's treatment was solely on Evan Bourne so you can blame him for being an idiot and getting caught twice in a row. Ryder isn't very good and can't act at all.

The show has definitely been more "hey, plz come back Attituder Era fans!!!"
Taker, HHH, Rock and now the epitome of boring - Lesnar.
It would look less like pandering if they at least attempted to give everyone else a decent story to work with, but I guess the classic "These younger guys can't draw...despite the fact that we're constantly reminding everyone they're not worth paying for with crappy stories and booking, but hereeeeee's another face from the past that we'll book like a champ!"

I don't get the complaints about Lesnar been a guy from the past coming back for a push.
It's not like he's an over the hill Kevin Nash or Mick Foley type coming to be thrust back into the main event. The guys only something like 34 or 35. If he's sticking around he could have a good 4 or 5 years still in him and there are plenty of guys for him to face.
Whether he can still go in the ring or not has yet to be seen but I think he'll still be very good.

Pretty much. Now we've got a sock puppet as the US Champ, the biggest goof in the game as the IC champ, the WHC lost in an 18 second squash match, and I can't even tell you who the Divas or tag team champs are. And good lord, with Rock talking about trying to win the title, am I scared as hell for Punk.

Lesnar and Cena debuted the same year. How does that make Lesnar "the past" and not Cena? Because Lesnar left years ago and Cena's still here.

He has alot less miles on him than Cena does, granted he won't work 1/10th of the workload and either one of them could be finished off for good with one bad bump

And, considering the common interpretation of Johnny Laryngitis's "natural disaster" comment, how long do you think it'll be before Mr. UFC beats CM Punk for the WWE Championship? By the way, Beth Phoenix is actually still the Divas champion, but at this point, I'm just waiting for Trish or Lita to come back and beat her for it to spike Pay Per View buys.
