Hi Everyone Im heading over to Japan in October and was hoping to catch some New Japan Wrestling (or any other good wrestling companies) while im in the country. Ive had a look around their website but am struggling with the lack of English translation. Just wondering if anybody knows good sites or has some useful information. If anybody has actually attended New Japan events any information (eg Venues, Ticket Prices/Purchasing) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All!

Cool. It's always fun to see puroresu up close. What cities are you going to?
Unfortunately, having checked the schedules at most of the major promotions' websites (I usually have trouble reading Japanese, but schedules aren't hard to figure out), the schedules for October aren't listed yet. Usually, the schedules are only given for about the next couple months, so right now, the latest booked shows are in June at the latest. Try checking back in August or so and see if October shows are listed.
If you're going to Tokyo, then of course, you've gotta check and see if anything is playing at Korakuen Hall. It's actually a very small little arena, but it's damned legendary and has a great atmosphere. Plus, it's easy to get tickets: the ticket office is right on the very same floor of the building, next to the arena area itself.
Now, for getting tickets well enough in advance before they're sold out, I'm not sure. Try checking out the puroresu websites to see if there are some ways you can order online. I'll try to dig a little further. I haven't been to puroresu shows in a long time (my work schedule makes it really inconvenient to catch shows), but from what I remember, tickets usually cost about 5,000-7,000 Yen.
And my highest recommendation for promotions is Dragon Gate. Most promotions in Japan put on good shows, but I can easily say that Dragon Gate is my personal favorite. I think their characters and shows have a lot more personality and character than other companies, and that makes them extremely fun to watch. Try giving them a shot as well as New Japan.

Check out the Strong Style Spirit site for up-to-date info about New Japan.

If NOAH is still around you should go to one of their shows just to say you did it before they closed.

My advice, if you're out in that area, check out Osaka Pro wrestling. They run a show most days out of the week, even though it's only a small one on the weekdays.

Thanks for all the reccomendations & website info guys. Much appreciated. Its great to have so many different companies mentioned already, means I stand a much better chance of catching some Wrestling action while Im there. Cool. It's always fun to see puroresu up close. What cities are you going to? I'll be staying in Tokyo, Kyoto & Nagasaki. I went to the Tokyo dome when I was in Japan last June to watch some Yomiuri Giants baseball. Is the Tokyo Dome still used much for Wrestling? Would be incredible to see Wrestling at such a prestigious venue. Sounds like Tokyo is a pretty good place to catch some wrestling action! So Dragon Gate is more of a WWE style than the other companies. The suggested Osaka Pro Wrestling sounds a good option for me too as Im staying in Kyoto and that is only a 1 hour train journey.

Here's a great English language fan-site to familiarize yourself with Osaka Pro, if you're interested: www.osakahurricane.com/Honestly, of all the puro feds going right now, it's my favorite.

Means Im virtually guaranteed to see something. I just had a look at the roster and momentarily marked out when I saw Zeus listed on there....sadly it wasnt the same monster who infamously feuded with Hogan 20 years ago

That said, though, the names to watch are Black Buffalo, the current Osaka Pro champ, and Spider-J, the recently heel turned Ultimate Spider Jr. The whole roster's great, but those are the two MVP's, I think.
