...within the show or during the show? WHY DIDN'T VINCE MCMAHON STRIP STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN OUT OF THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP WHEN THEY WERE HEATED BLOOD RIVALS?!!! !!!!111 Eve Torres who had the job for like 5 mins and probably doesn't have a deep hatred to CM Punk like Vince did to Stone Cold knew the rule and Vince didn't?!?! I'm confused

I just explain to myself that the rule WAS created because of Austin's repeated use of drinking, but didn't enforce it because would YOU want to tell a pissed off redneck he can't drink? And prior to the fakeout by Punk, they didn't need to enforce it because Austin only makes appearances now.

I got the kayfabe impression that it was one of many rules that's never been enforced, and really has been forgotten about, but Eve dug it up and it served a purpose for the heels at that moment. "Eve Torres: Ace Researcher." I mean, who did Vince have to do that kind of book work, Pat Patterson?

Yeah, I was under the impression that the rule was created post-Austin due to the general chaos that ensued with all those repeated beer bashes.

The APA would have been pretty tame as well with the booze ban. I'm not sure seeing them backstage drinking orange juice and playing snap would have looked quite as daunting.

It is a part of the Wellness Policy they put in after the Guerrero and Benoit deaths. It wasn't around back when Austin was champ, so they wouldn't be able to use it.

The rule doesn't actually exist, Eve was just making it up.

I get the impression that 1. the rule didn't exist until after Austin was gone (Wellness) 2. Austin drank after his matches (the longest possible time before his next match)

As stated it happened post Austin.
Will be interesting to see what they do NOW with Austin appearances and the beer baths etc.
Ah, who'm I kidding, it'll never be brought up again past this feud.

The REAL question is why the hell wasn't it Otunga that brought this up instead of Eve? I guess it would have made too much sense for the LAWYER to know the rules better than anyone.

The rule came into effect with the wellness policy. Yea, Austin has drank beer on shows since then, but it was a rule buried in the book and nobody knew/cared that he was breaking it.
The real consitency problem will come when Austin shows up and starts having beer baths again.

Who says that was even beer that Austin was drinking? It could have easily been beer-colored water. It's not like they ever specifically mentioned Austin drinking Budweiser or any specific brands.

I get the impression that 1. the rule didn't exist until after Austin was gone (Wellness) 2. Austin drank after his matches (the longest possible time before his next match) Now I want this to happen: 1. Austin returns. 2. Challenges for WWE Title. 3. Wins title and celebrates with beer. 4. Is stripped of title. 5. Repeat process for next 4-6 weeks. 6. ? 7. Profit!

Was Otunga even there? I don't remember if he was or not (I very well might have just not noticed him). I thought he was at the Hudson trial that day.

Hudson was testifying against the man accused of killing her family.
