In all the years I've been watching wrestling, I think tonight's match between Sheamus and Daniel Bryan was the first 2 out of 3 falls match where the person who won the first fall went on to win the match. Just to clarify, I mean when there are three falls awarded in the match, so anytime someone wins 2-0 (which I've seen a couple of) is something different. It seems that any time these matches go to three falls, the winner always seems to lose the first decision but win two straight to take the match.
I'm sure there have been but I can't think of another match where this happened before tonight. Can anyone think of any (not necessarily WWE) matches where the person who won the first fall, lost the second fall but went on to win the third fall.

Wasn't Triple H's match at Armageddon 2002 after he won the first and third fall? Or does that not count because it was 3 stages of hell?

Was hoping for a thread about how that was a 4 1/2-5 star match. On the edge of my seat the whole time!

I forgot about that Trips/Shawn match. I think with it being 3 different types of matches rolled into one made me forget it was two out of three falls. Then this is the first standard two out of three falls match that I remember happening like that.

Doink the Clown and Marty Jannetty? Or does that not count either? I mean technically, Doink won, but the decision was later reversed.

WTF? Doink the Clown and Marty Jannetty had a Two Out of Three Falls match? When, and why? On Raw...it was actually a pretty damn good match. Doink won the first fall, Jannetty the second, then Doink won the third but it was overturned because he pulled the switcheroo with another Doink.

MVP won the US Title from Benoit by beating him two straight falls with Benoit winning none.

MVP won the US Title from Benoit by beating him two straight falls with Benoit winning none. Indeed he did. But as I said in the opening post, I don't mean matches where someone wins 2-0.
