The six sided ring made me stop and watch TNA while flipping through the channels back in 2007.
I was actually like, WTF is this? and watched part of a Senshi match.
That's something they've really lost with the current product. The ability to stand out and be an alternative. The 6 sided ring alone didn't do that, but to me it was a symbol of TNA's counter-wrestling-culture status which it made something it hasn't been in a couple of years: interesting.

Love, love, LOVE the switch.
I can't begin to describe how much I loathed that damn 6 sided ring. I thought it looked ridiculous and I never saw it add one thing to a match. Goodbye and good riddance.

I miss it because Six Sides of Steel is fun to say. Ya, always found the six sides of steel sounded pretty sweet. Personally, I liked the old ring better, it was part of TNA's identity.

I have to disagree. It helped TNA stand out.

I liked the six-sided ring, but this has been a good change for the better. The matches don't seem gimmicky.

strongly disagree. The 6-sided ring made TNA unique and distinctive. I think this a Hogan bias that Dixie swallowed hook, line, and sinker. I think that's kind of a weak way to look distinctive. Whoa, our ring has more sides! Distinctive comes from the talent, writing, storylines, commentary, production. Not how many sides the ring has. It's a very small difference, if that was something TNA was depending on to REALLY set them apart, they needed to try harder.

I didn't have a problem with the switch, but I did have a problem with the way Hogan went about it.
"You had 6 sides and it wasn't working for you, you'll have 4 and you'll like it!"
And then of course the infamous promo telling fans how to behave. The first sign that Hogan was going to kill my interest in the company.

Much preferred TNA having a six-sided ring.

At the time they actually were setting themselves a part with their performers and storylines. In a lot of ways the transition from 6-sided to 4-sided marked the end of the "wrestling alternative" era and the beginning of "Plz notice us WWE!" era.

I stopped watching shortly after they dropped the six sides, though that had very little to do with the change in ring shape.

I only really started watching TNA in 2009, but I can definitely see that. They did feel really different until Hogan and Bischoff came in, and had to be all "look, WE'RE here, now shit's gettin real!" Ugh.

I felt it was a better showcase for the X-Division.

As much as I liked the six sides, if what AJ Styles said about the 6 sided ring being really rough on the body is true, then switching to four sides was for the best.

I prefer four sides but The Lethal Lockdown in a four sides ring just doesn't work: it's just too small. That is why War Games had two rings, because you had many guys brawling all over the place with no rules. This type of contest needs space.

They should bring the 6 sides back for 3 PPVs each year: Lockdown (Six sides of steel is a better cage), Destination X (The ropes had more tension, so it was better for high flying moves. Thankfully they seem to be doing this), and Slammiversary (It would allow for the space needed for a KotM match).
