Ultimate Warrior. Great look, bizarre but effective promo skills and the "it" factor. Dude couldn't wrestle a lick, though.

you know what, if you can be carried to a good match then you have some wrestling skills.

Warrior had "somewhat acceptable" wrestling skills for the 80's/early 90's. It's just he's not like Taker, who worked those style matches (and goddamn were they awful to watch), but then when they opened things up, was capable of doing so much more.

Muhammad Hassan. Could cut a great promo, had an interesting gimmick, could draw insane heat...just couldn't work.

you know what, if you can be carried to a good match then you have some wrestling skills. Agreed. I've never been in a wrestling ring and Daniel Bryan could not carry me to a good match. Warrior may have been carried, but he had good matches with Hogan and Rude during his heyday. Not a great wrestler, maybe not even a good wrestler...but he had at least the skills to listen and work with the other guy.

Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart...
I always thought he had the look, and was great on the mic. But he wasn't great like say Owen or Davey Boy were in the ring.

I agree with the Boogeyman. He in my opinion was a worse wrestler than Nathan Jones in the ring.

Curious to see where this thread goes. No examples not already mentioned are coming to mind offhand, but personally I think ring skills are the least important part of being a big deal in wrestling.

Have to disagree Hogan and Luger. Hogan was pretty damn good in Japan and Luger actually shocked a lot of people with quite a few matches in his first WCW run. Boogeyman I agree with.

Hogan as said, was good in Japan. When he wrestled here, he did all that he needed to.
What's the point in cutting your career short? As it was he is still f***ed up from brilliantly picking a move where you land on your ass every night, when you are as big as he is.

This is the best pick. Had the look, the presence, the size and was AWFUL in the ring. Luckily he got into martial arts films, where his talents are pretty much tailor made to being the big bad henchman. I'm pretty sure he has starred in his own as well, Muay Thai Giant.

I remember in an interview, the British Bulldog said that Luger was a great wrestler.
