Now I know that this would very unlikely happen. Mickie James has been to some AAW,PWX and NEW shows, but I know that with Cornette in ROH and how the new ownership has put a stop to a lot of guest spots in ROH these days.
But hypothetically, how exactly do you believe the crowd would react if Mickie showed up in ROH in a surprise spot?
The only two ways i can see her being involved with a storyline is if either, Maria agreed to get in the ring and Mickie was tagged with whoever Bennett was feuding with at the time. Or if SDR was invited back to ROH to do a one off match with Mickie. And considering both of those are unlikely to happen.
But what i was wondering is, with Mickie being one of the ROH originals, being with the company for a good part of both 2002 and 2003, How would the surprise one shot go over with the fans?
Would the ROH fans...
1. Cheer her insanely because she is a ROH original
2. Cheer her because she is a huge star, forgetting her roots and focusing on her being a big deal who has been all over WWE and TNA TV for the last 7 years.
3. Crap on her because she is a TNA star. Not remembering that she was an ROH Original.
4. Crap on her because her ring work has been slightly sloppy and she has been given a "cena like push" since joined TNA.
Considering guys like Paul London & Low Ki didn't make a huge return to ROH due to heat with the company, It is not uncommon for names who made it big in WWE to not have their big return welcome home to the company that put them on WWE's radar. While guys like Joey Matthews & Spanky returned in short appearances whilst between returning to WWE or moving to TNA.
The only guy i can think of who got their huge welcome back was Colt Cabana.
Then there is the question, how much of a percentage of today's ROH fanbase have been around since 2002? With the Feinstein fallout, Gabe being sacked, Pearce's booking and the Sinclair buy out all changing the way and feel of ROH does ROH to you still feel like the company that ran it's first shows 10 years ago.
