The guy was an asshole for releasing them, no good comes from releasing exotic animals out in public.

Personally I think tranquilizers and immediate contact of zoologists would have been more efficient than animal slaughter....
It didn't say he destroyed the animals cages...just opened them. They could have been returned.

This is crazy. I'm in Ohio so I've been hearing a lot about this. It's sad that all these animals had to be put down like that.

The monkey that they haven't found yet is no doubt forming an army.
More seriously, this guy is a major league asshat for releasing those animals, knowing full well that they'd probably be killed.
I, too, wonder if tranquilizers would have been a better solution.

Tranqs probably would have been more humane, but with that many animals running around - who knows if they had enough tranq guns to take them all down.
50 wild animals running all over a town that that has a population of less than 30K means they probably don't have the right equipment to handle such an outbreak humanely and had to resort to impromptu big game hunting in order to keep the populus safe.

Then call the National Guard for assistance. I would imagine they did. But if you had a lion running around your town, would you really want to wait for them to show up and risk your townsfolk getting gobbled up? And getting the govt to react quickly to anything . . . well, let's just say I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to rush right out.

How often do you get to go big game hunting in Ohio?

Eh They did the right thing. With so many human lives in danger, they did the right thing.

Tranquilizers should have definitely been used first, resorting to actually killing them would have only been necessary if shit got TOO crazy.

I don't know if they would have even had any tranq guns within practical distance. I know we see those all the time in movies, but I question how prevalent they'd really be, even in places with animals.

Maybe he was just playing "Jumanji" I know I shouldn't be laughing, that made me laugh. And I'm pretty sure PETA are wishing their "porn" site could launch much sooner right about now.

You know there is going to be reports of sightings of these type of animals in that area for decades to come now.
