1 more win.
Maybe tomorrow if CJ remembers that he's our Ace and finds his nuts, we can end this series.

The team that cannot die is still not dead. If this keeps up, LaRussa should retire (how could he follow up in 2012 with what his 2011 unkillables are doing). Well, take those unkillables...resign Furcal and Pujols...get Wainwright back in the starting rotation...wash...rinse...repeat. Brewers won't be back here next year without Fielder. St. Louis isn't stupid enough to let Pujols get away, especially with how he's swinging this postseason. He keeps this up through winning the WS, then he'll get his big payday. As far as Fielder? Let's go ahead and take bets on what kind of insane contract that the Chicago Cubs are going to offer him...

The lack of timely hitting has seriously disappointed me this series. I'm starting to feel like Texas simply is the better team.

Ehhh, I don't know. He only hit .225 this year (I know he's never been a hitting for average guy), while Fielder hit .300. lol, my dad goes, "Hey, do you know if Pujols can play third?" I just go, "Dad, the Tigers aren't signing Albert Pujols. "

Even though it's obvious that he's just out of gas at this point, Alex Avila needs to step up tomorrow. I bought a shirt with his name and number on the back before the Yankees series, and he's done shitty since.

I hold nothing against him, he had an amazing season and the lack of a backup catcher towards the end of the year put too much on him. He's got nothing left in the tank I think.

The Tigers didn't really have a backup all season, save for Victor occasionally. Hell, I remember when Avila left a game injured and Victor was our DH, forcing Don Kelly to catch the remainder of the game. Now, I have nothing against Don Kelly, as he's the many of all positions, but I'd rather have somebody used to catching at the backstop in case something goes down. Whether its Victor or somebody else, Avila needs more breaks next season. As for the series, I'm not giving up hope, mainly because our top 3 are starting the remainder. With Verlander at home, I believe we'll be able to take game 5. But Games 6 and 7 scare me for various reasons. For Game 6, I'm not that confident with Scherzer on the mound, seeing as his ERA goes up a full run and a half on the road. As for Game 7, it's not more Fister I'm worried about as it is Holland. I don't know why exactly, I guess it's just a gut feeling. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Starting to see shades of Bernie Williams in Nelson Cruz here. All he needs is a guitar. ;D Ah, man, to see Valverde get pounded like that is awesome. Take your punishment, you overrated pitcher, you.

He still hasn't blown a save all season. Kinda hard to overrate perfection.
As for the Tigers catching depth, Brandon Inge caught for a few years, but I'm not sure if he could still do it because of his knee problems.
Does anybody know if A.J. Pierzynski is a free agent? With the way he's been talking up the Tigers on Fox, he could be angling for a backup catching role in Motown. It'd be a decent option that would let Avila get more regular rest.

I now know how Los Angeles Clippers fans feel when they look at Donald Sterling. How can I support a team whose owners won't support the team, coaches or fans in return? We persevere in spite of Sterling. And it's great that finally after years, the Clip Show has something the rest of the NBA fans are excited about. But you guys should have seen the writing on the wall about the ownership after 2004. The ownership should have went to Theo the day after winning the World Series, and asked him "What do you want? What will it take to keep you here?" But that didn't happen, and they let Theo leave for a season. I hate the Red Sox (I'll admit I do like Papelbon for some reason), but I respect Theo. The guy obviously knows baseball and how to build a championship team. That Tiger rotation not only is young, but look at the rest of the division. Does anybody else in the AL Central look good for next year? I don't know. Indians overachieved, but their batting lineup didn't exactly remind me of 1999. Royals- Nuff said. White Sox- new manager, Dunn has to hit better, more pitching and power needed. Twins- they look like they're maybe on the decline. The Twins are the biggest threat to the Tigers. They just need Morneau and Mauer to be healthy next season. Good to see the Rangers go up 3 games to 1. I want to see them win it (since New York got eliminated), just to see Josh Hamilton get a ring. It would be a great chapter in his story, from where he was about a decade ago.

They DESPERATELY need to rid themselves of John Lackey and Josh Beckett. They cannot be allowed to submarine two burgeoning young aces in Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz. If it takes eating a significant portion of the salaries of Lackey and Beckett, then so be it. There's no way those two wide loads can come back to Boston wearing the home whites ever again. They are poison in the clubhouse, and they not only cost the Red Sox a playoff berth, they cost the Red Sox organization and fans it's greatest manager in franchise history. From every account of the Red Sox collapse, it has been the work of Lackey and Beckett that destroyed the team from inside (drinking in the clubhouse, playing video games rather than supporting teammates, gaining a combined 30 pounds over the course of the season) and the outside (completely crapping the bed in the month of September). Unfortunately, with all of this news coming to light, it's becoming increasingly evident that both are practically untouchable at this point, given their attitudes and salaries. The Red Sox franchise needs new faces in 2012. They can't walk back into Spring Training with Lackey and Beckett on the hill, Kevin Youkilis patrolling the hot corner and playing locker room lawyer or Jason Varitek and Tim Wakefield continuing to decay before our very eyes. Those five have to go, no questions asked. Luckily, Varitek and Wakefield are free agents, so there's no effort in telling them to take a hike. But to find suitors for Beckett, Lackey and Youkilis? That's going to take a real work of magic. Know who I admire a bit more now? Carl Crawford. Make no mistake about it, his season was well below expectations, but from all accounts Ive seen, he wasnt drinking or being a jackass in the clubhouse. He went out there and played, and he didnt make excuses either. Hell, the guy apologized to the fans for his awful season. And based on what was going on with some of his teamates, his hard time adjusting in this city makes a bit more sense to me.

During an interview Wednesday with ESPN's Colleen Dominguez, David Ortiz suggested he might want to play elsewhere next season -- and that joining the Yankees is "something I gotta think about."
Jacoby Ellsbury and Lance Berkman won Comeback Player of the Year in each of their respective leagues.
Joaquin Benoit and Jose Valverde will not be available for tonight's game against Texas. Alex Avila will be dropped to 8th in the batting order.

During an interview Wednesday with ESPN's Colleen Dominguez, David Ortiz suggested he might want to play elsewhere next season -- and that joining the Yankees is "something I gotta think about." David, do you really want to leave? Think about it long and hard, because once you're gone, that's when all of your marital problems, potential drug addictions and other personal problems that are in no way related to your performance on the field will be "leaked" by the ownership group. I think that's going to be the only way the Red Sox retain potential free agents, by threatening to spread gossip and rumors about them to the local media once they've joined another organization. Fear really is the best way to keep someone content.

I wonder if the Yankees would even need, much less want, to sign Ortiz. I would say that it'd be incredibly surreal to see Big Papi in pinstripes, though.

Alex Avila is 2 for 33 this postseason. That's unreal for a guy who was floating around .300 during the regular season.
