Astrodome. I hate how it just sits there with no use at all.

Astrodome. I hate how it just sits there with no use at all. I'm just glad its still up. That stadium is historically significant. I wish their was someone using it though. I think the University of Houston should go back to it once in a while or have the Texans play the Titans every preseason in the stadium as an homage to the Oilers or something.

The Dell, with those ultra-narrow goals and weird triangle shaped stands.
I do remember Southampton giving good teams a pasting there. I remember them knocking six past Man Utd.

I don't care how crappy it was, I miss Shea Stadium.
Don't get me wrong, I love Citi Field and it's luxuries, but I was practically raised at Shea, and nothing topped when a big game was going down. That place could seat 56,000+, and when things got exciting the place literally shook.

Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati...
Place was an absolute eyesore and it sucked on the inside also with its lack of view of the outside city. But I saw my second ever baseball game there, dammit. Dad took me to a Reds game in 1994 while my family was there on a vacation. We sat beside former college basketball coach Pete Gillen, who was with Xavier at the time.
Good memories.

I don't know if motor racing tracks count as stadia, but I miss the old version of Hockenheim in Germany. It's just not the same without the minute and a half blast through the forest.

OK I can agree with that one. I know why they did it... but damn, I miss the high speeds of the old circuit. The fact the Jim Clark Memorial no longer exists is also a shame.

How old is the oldest stadium currently in use anyway? I don't know about worldwide, but I'm pretty sure the oldest stadium in the U.S. that's still in use is Fenway Park which turns 100 next year. Fenway HAS to go. It isnt designed for anyone of average height/weight in 2011.

The old Boston Garden was an absolute s***hole...............but it was our s***hole, dammit! THIS. Opposing teams absolutely feared the Garden. The crowds were rabid and the building just had this creepy aura about it

This is really, REALLY splitting hairs in comparison, as the actual stadium is still the same, but I swear to GOD I'm never calling Jacobs Field by its new name. I never refer to it as Progressive Field without feeling a little sick. Even worse is when people try to nickname it "The Pro", or worse, "The Prog".

The old Omni in Atlanta. Man, I miss that thing like crazy. Saw a few great WCW shows there in my childhood, and then when they brought it down in 1997, going to the events never felt quite the same.

I've seen a lot of comments about noise level and I think that's a big problem with a lot of newer stadiums, as beautiful as they are. They're just not built to hold in as much noise. The new Yankee Stadium isn't nearly as loud as the House that Ruth Built. There's also the crazy ticket prices pricing out all but the most well-off of fans (who may not even be real fans; we've sorta got Lakers syndrome in how a lot of front row seat holders are there to be seen rather than watch a game). At least the bleacher seats are still cheap and rowdy.
As another example, the new Meadowlands stadium (not used to calling it MetLife Stadium) isn't nearly as loud as the old Giants Stadium. And as any San Diego or Seattle fan can tell you, crowd noise can be a big advantage for the home team.
While I hate the Red Sox with every fiber of my being, I think that atmosphere is a huge part of why Fenway is the best place to watch baseball in the country.

We've also got the Matthews Arena, which Northeastern plays in, that opened in 1910. It's the oldest something in use... not sure if it's arena or just ice hockey arena.

First from purists and nostalgics and historians, second from the absolute murder you will have to find a replacement site anywhere near downtown Boston. Fens is with Wrigley, virtually sacrosanct.

They had an AWESOME plan circa 2002. They even had a video showing you the design. It was perfect. Problem (in part) was along with the team sold, certian political figures wouldnt allow it to happen

It isnt designed for anyone of average height/weight in 2011. At most Fenway will only ever have a replacement that is an exact replication. That of course, won't ever happen. Yes, there's no parking spaces, the seats are not designed for modern people, but if they get rid of Fenway, there'd be riots.

Watch ESPN never shut up about it come the start of next season. And this might be unpopular amongst Cards fans, but I think the new Busch is far superior to the old concrete bowl, which got unbearably stuffy during the hot days in summer.

While the Metrodome might be a total dump, there's no doubt that when you pack 50,000 rabid fans for a playoff game, the entire stadium shakes.

Astrodome, Pontiac Silverdome, Kingdome, Olympic Stadium (Montreal) and the Old Yankee Stadium. I hate how the new Yankee Stadium is the same thing with out the history.
