I would not be shocked if there winds up being a civil war between the possible successors. Hell, I would bet that there are certain intelligence agencies that are trying to engineer one.

It's just a shame that the Bugle Podcast wrapped up on Friday, would of loved to hear their take on this. Kim was insane. Without going into politics this is some of the silly things he has done: Kidnapped a South Korean movie director to produce and direct a Godzilla knock off and propaganda film on the evils of capitalism called Pulgasari en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PulgasariIt has been reported that Kim Jong il has a waterslide at his Palace which funnily enough is the only waterslide in North Korea. Satellite images of the palace confirms this. And of course there is the Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang a large ugly stupid building that has been under construction (on and off) since 1987. Yes they are still building it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryugyong_HotelHas there ever been a evil dictator that has given the World as much laughs as Kimmy? I don't think so.

Doesn't the military run that place? I kind of figured the Il clan was just the zany figure head while the generals and such do all the dirty work.

While there is a President of Iran, it is the Islamic ruling council that has the power. Imadinnerjacket (yes, I dunno how to spell it) cannot go to the men's room without the council's OK. Basically why he threatens countries like the US and Israel and then never follows through. Council won't let him. In North Korea, it's the single strongman, much like in Cuba. Keep in mind, this family, now three generations of it, have ruled this country since the 1950s. Whatever they say, no matter how insane, goes. I think that is JUST enough to not get in trouble with the politics rule.

Mubarak in Egypt was removed from power, although that's not the same thing as being killed, obviously.

I would not cry too hard if there was a change of power in Iran, Syria or Yemen. That's all I am going to say about that.

Technically, I think Kim Il Sung is still the leader. Yes, he's the "eternal leader" and I bet Jon is the same. So now Norht Korea has three leaders, two in heaven and one on earth.
