yeah, I said recentest for fun.
Moving on...
What platforms did it come out on and which is the best and why?
Can I assume Wii, PS3 and 360? I know it is on Wii but the only one I can find looks cartoony and I thought this game was supposed to look realistic/movie-like.

It came out for practically every console, even PS2 and DS, but the 360 one was the only one I played, and I enjoyed it on there.

The Wii version was done cartoony for reasons that escape me, but the PS3 & 360 ones are realistic. Well, as realistic as a game about ghosts can be.

So definitely worth buying then? Is it fun, easy, hard, does it crap on the movies?

It's pretty fun, feels extremely faithful to the movie (tons of references to practically every Ghostbusters thing in existence), and shouldn't be too hard to get the hang of.

I played it on PC. There's tons of references to the movie and you'll revisit pretty much every iconic location in the movies so you'll certainly feel familiar. The characters are modelled after their actors pretty well and voice acting is good.
Gameplay is like Gears of War except you need to trap ghosts. Moving happens by standard controls and you need to keep reviving team members by touching them. Some people have complained that trapping is too difficult but I had no such problems. I obviously played with a mouse which might have something to do with it.
I highly recommend it if you're a fan of the series. I can't say which version is better. Probably not the Wii version though.

Yeah, I got the hang of trapping almost immediately.

Good game and one of the only ones to give me a legitimate shock due to gameplay. It was in the haunted hotel when you had the ghosts walking past where some of them would turn evil and only the PKE Metre would give you a clue. Managed to get most of them and was making my way slowly through the kitchen when the damn thing off, making me jump and causing me to shoot the room to pieces before realising it was a false alarm. Rather reminded me of the first movie with the scene with the maid quite well.

The Wii version was done cartoony for reasons that escape me,/quote] Because the Wii is not powerful enough to do realistic. Also the PS2 version is the same as the Wii version except for the controls.

ah yes, the PS2 version is what confused me into thinking they were all cartoony, figured it could've looked almost as good as PS3 at least moreso than the Wii.

The PS2/Wii versions have a unique distinction over the PS3/360 ones though in that you can play a female rookie in them.

How about a male rookie?
Why do I wanna play as a woman? Does she wear revealing outfits, have a cute butt that is always right infront of me while I play?

yeah it's worth getting, but I thought it followed the movies a bit too closely to be considered the "third film"

Wii version is the only 1 with local multiplayer. It might be fun to co-op with a friend. Strangely PS2 version lacked this feature.
DS version is the only version to A. let you play as the busters themselves instead of a damn nameless rookie & B. let you drive the ectomobile.

It was a good game. I liked that they got the actors reprise their Ghostbuster roles.
Also returning is Annie Potts as Janine and William Atherton as Walter Peck... Oh and funfact Max von Sydow reprises his (voice only) role as Vigo the Carpathian from GBII.
The game is basically Ghostbusters III, thinking about it.

Technically the most recent one is Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime and is one the Playstation Network and X-box Arcade... it's not all that good... though it does have Janoz! That's all I have to add... anything on the retail game I could say has been said... oh Except you can talk to Vigo!
