I have come to the conclusion that this entire family is incredibly f***ed up. Everyone, the abuse victim included, needs some major therapy.
And no, Dr. Phil doesn't count. He isn't a real doctor.

Based on the comments made on the Reddit thread, it seems that Ms. Adams had worked her audience. Corporal punishment is debatable, but when it comes to extortion, that's a whole another story. And from my POV, they're all equally guilty. How is coercion by way of beating someone even remotely debatable? *head explodes* I'm just saying that corporal punishment has been a controversial subject for a long time.

I have come to the conclusion that this entire family is incredibly f***ed up. Everyone, the abuse victim included, needs some major therapy. And no, Dr. Phil doesn't count. He isn't a real doctor. I can pretty much guarantee you she is currently in therapy right now just by the way she talks in interviews and stuff. Someone who got beaten that badly as a kid would not be able to be comfortable talking about it. Was she blackmailing her dad? Maybe but it doesn't change the fact that she was the victim here. Who cares if she was mad that he took away her car? Can anyone seriously compare exposing her dad as a violent sadist and using it as blackmail to being beaten over and over when you were a child.(Yes she was beaten over and over. I haven't heard her say that but the way he was doing it in the video pretty clearly shows he has done it before.) I study and read about these cases all the time. The fact that any public would turn against her is absolutely amazing. People need to be educated on what child and sexual abuse does to children. It is rewiring their brain and makes them real easy targets for abuse in the future. It is damaging an organ and that is how it should be prosecuted in court. Hitting your kids is lazy and totally uncalled for. It does the exact opposite of what a lot of people think. Some people think it helps their kids grow up disciplined and well behaved. That is not the case at all. It rewires the brain and makes it very very difficult for someone to grow up in a mentally healthy way. Sure a slap on the butt doesn't make you a sadist but it doesn't win you any parent of the year awards either and there are still way better ways to discipline your kids. If you beat your kids with an object such as a belt then there is something mentally wrong with you and you need to seek therapy. Multiple studies have been done on this and people need to read and educate themselves on it so that the pattern and genetic nurturing of child abuse can some day stop and society can evolve above it. If your parents beat you with an object as a kid you need to see a therapist for at least an evaluation. The fact that some people think it is okay that their parents did that to them and then say that they turned out fine is complete crap. Just the fact that you would think something like that is okay shows that you have a mental disconnection. Sorry if I offended anyone but I feel very strongly on this because I read the cases on this all the time and I have a natural interest in studying human behavior.

Did she really "win" though? The judge got a slap on the wrist and the girl will forever be ridiculed on the internet for what some see as being vindictive and setting her Dad up.
I am on her side though. Vindictive or not, her Dad beat her ruthlessly on camera and should be punished harshly.

I couldn't resist.

The beating didn't look THAT f***ing bad. Looked more like a very harsh spanking than a real beating. From some of the comments here I would've thought she was scalped or something.

It really wasn't that bad. Wrong, but not the worse ass whoopin one could have received. She only got hit with a belt, that's like low tier.

There's spanking and then there's whipping. He was whipping. That is over the line. I got spanked as a child and not once was there that type of...venom, for lack of a better term, to it.

I think everyone is rushing to judgement without knowing all the facts in the case. I mean we don't even know WHAT music she was downloading.
