I'm not a Batista fan but I did enjoy what he had to say about Parker in his book and on his DVD. I'm glad Batista got a big position if only to be able to have a book or DVD telling off Parker. I understand discipline and paying dues completely but a guy like Parker or Hardcore Holly takes it too far just because they can get away with it. I understand telling a trainee they will never make it, mostly for fact as not everyone can make it but I believe Parker would be telling it to the trainees to be a jerk more than anything. Growing up watching WCW I never saw Parker win, he was always a jobber with a gimmick. He was a company man I guess and had a job for many years. I understand doing right by the company but if he could truly make it he could get over on his own or even with the state patrol gimmick. Heck, Big Bossman was amazing and Mountie did pretty well but Parker sure went no where. Hornswoggle, for as many people that dump on him, is pretty darn interesting compared to his opponent Chavo Guerrero or Bruan the Leprechaun, Parker's Dungeon of Doom gimmick. Another gimmick Parker could get over.

The whole "He's a jobber so his opinion is invalid" argument doesn't hold water with me because I've seen plenty of guys, from Horowitz to Funaki, who put over guys who were vastly inferior wrestlers to them. In Parker's case he didn't have the charisma, look, or gimmick to be a star, not to mention his drawl which is so thick that even Georgians couldn't understand what he was saying half the time. He did win a match here and there and afterward he'd write his opponent a ticket and slap it on their chest. But I digress.
Parker does know wrestling, which is why he was in charge of the Power Plant to begin with. Batista didn't make it because he's a cream puff. He put down OVW, Jim Cornette, and Danny Davis as well claiming that he didn't learn anything. Cornette's response: "It wasn't for a lack of trying." Batista was constantly hurt even then and when he got called up it was obvious he was a turd because he screwed up his finish constantly and was, again, getting hurt all the time. Batista has that attitude too, that he's hot stuff and doesn't have to listen to anybody because he's big. Big Dave's run in the E is all the proof I need to know that the Sarge is right about him.

Big Dave's run in the E is all the proof I need to know that the Sarge is right about him. Wait; I'm confused!! When did Sarge say that Batista would improve greatly, have great matches with guys like Cena, HHH, Edge, and Undertaker, and become a multi-time world champion?

I'm sure a lot of wrestlers are jealous of Batista's success.
How many guys did the "power plant" produce anyway? I guess they can claim Goldberg, but I doubt they were too important to what made him a star.

If a lame duck champ who was always hurt and put on boring matches is improvement, sure. Personally, I thought he was a dud.

Not to mention Goldberg was unsafe in the ring, pretty much one of the basic things you're supposed to learn. Apparently the Power Plant was built on the idea of physical torture and taking endless bumps...not much in the way of actual in-ring psychology or ability. Explains why the WWF sent a majority of the WCW guys who came from there to their own farm system.

The Power Plant was a friggin joke. Goldberg was the biggest star they ever produced-a guy who, according to Raven, absolutely REFUSED to learn how to sell or do basic stuff.

Isn't Dwayne Bruce the guy who made a British reporter workout at the power plant until he was physically sick? And wasn't it because he asked a question Bruce didn't like? Yeah, he can go f*** himself.

didn't Adam Pearce recently say that all the footage you saw of guys being worked to the point of puking was just bullshit for the cameras and that it only happened on days when reporters or guys documenting the school were there?

Not to mention Goldberg was unsafe in the ring, . He only hurt one guy(Bret Hart). Owen Hart hurt one guy too, but you would never call him unsafe because he is a IWC favorite.

I never really got the hate for goldberg. He was pretty awesome in my eyes and seemed to be over huge in the orignal WCW and at the start of his WWE run.

Yeah, he can go f*** himself. Louis Theroux. Not a fan by any means of Buddy Lee Parker, but Jim Cornette also commented on Batista's negative attitude and lack of enthusiasm while training to be a wrestler.

Cornette said that he was a prima donna even in Ohio Valley where he was pushed to the moon, even though he was as fragile as a D grade egg. Judging by his matches, even though they were title affairs, sure, he looked inept and ridiculous.

yeah Goldberg wasn't an unsafe worker. The biggest complaint I hear from a lot of respected workers (including Jericho, Mysterio, and Storm) is that he just didn't understand the business and that guys like Scott Hall got in his ear and told him to do what works instead of trying to improve all the time.

True story about Buddy Lee Parker: A few years ago, about 2004 or so, he was at an indy show in my hometown(along with Elix Skipper, Erik Watts, and David Young), and while I was talking to him, my sister came up to us, and she shook his hand. She maintains to this day that he gave her some kind of a rash, because her hand apparently itched for days after that handshake.

The Power Plant seemed to have taught mostly endurance and bumping. As far as alumni goes:
Natural Born Thrillas Kwee Wee Kanyon DDP Nash 3 Count Shark Boy Elix Skipper Alex Wright Goldberg Jimmy Yang
among others...
