I don't know why I thought of this, but I just remembered the time Yokozuna was kicked out of Camp Cornette just after the Rumble '96, and a month later at In Your House, where I think he faced the Bulldog, Todd Pettengill brought him in for an interview, and Yoko spoke perfect english. Obviously he always could, but to me, still being a mark at the time, I was like "How long has Yokozuna been able to speak English? Why hasn't he until now?".
It was unfortunate he was approaching his biggest at this time, because I enjoyed his feud with Vader, even when he got driven out of the arena on RAW in a forklift after Vader broke his leg with a Vader Bomb

I was just watching King of the Ring 1993 and he did a promo, but it was in sort of broken English. He had a banzai tree in his dressing room, that was awesome.

It killed him off way before a spider did.

My favorite Yokozuna talking moment was when he was in the Royal Rumble, and Vince was putting over how he was Japanese and literally seconds later Yoko chopped a guy and yelled "For Samoa!"

I believe they used the excuse that Cornette and Fuji wouldn't let him speak, even though he could. So once he ditched them, he could speak for himself.

Also, once he did start speaking, it was with a heavy Samoan accent, complete with saying "brudda," yet they still tried to bill him as being of Japanese ancestry.

I can't believe I ever bought Yokozuna as a Japanese wrestler as a kid. In fact, if anyone but kids ever bought it, I'd be absolutely floored.
Dude was more Samoan than Sheamus is pale.

As a 10 year old kid I bought him as Japanese- the music, the sumo gimmick, Mr Fuji as a manager... Those were the days ;D

I totally remember the promo he gave at...I wanna say an In Your House. But this big fat dude they've been hyping as Japanese comes out and talks all gangsta. It f***ing CRACKED. ME. UP.
"Brutha....youse in the wroooooooooooooong place....at the wrooooooooooooooooong time!"
EDIT: Also, was it just me or was it REALLY weird to see Mr. Fuji waving an American flag?
EDIT: Search youtube 'Yokozuna Speaks'. It's like the first or second one there.

I liked Fuji waving the American flag but was dissapointed his wrestlemania 12 appearance was only shown for a few seconds during the match. I think he could be seen from certain shots from the commentators angle and Vince even mentioned him waving the flag. He didn't even get a proper introduction with Yokozuna. I can see him falling behind, walking slowly but he should have been featured. I'm not so sure he didn't come out until a few minutes into the match. Kind of strange. Too bad he didn't get into it with Jim Cornette. Remember when he was listed as a ticket taker for a movie theater. Wouldn't a fan love to go to that theater and who cares about the movie just pay the ticket price and talk to Fuji for two hours or more. Awesome!

Yoko should've spoke from the begining, WWE keeping him silent made him look less intimadating as time passed
