I'm just curious, I've always wondered what people's reactions were to this as it was happening. I've never seen someone who actually watched it live though.

Watched it live with a group of friends. For that split second before Hogan leg dropped Savage, we all thought something was going to happen. And when it happened, we were all like "OOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
On another note, Heenan's line meant nothing to us. I never understood how "who's side is he on?" gave away the ending.

I watched the main event live for sure, in Spanish. I don't recall the rest of the event. I remember being pretty shocked, but not so shocked as to keep following WCW.

On another note, Heenan's line meant nothing to us. I never understood how "who's side is he on?" gave away the ending. Ditto. Heenan was always anti-Hulkster. He always came up with some way to insult Hogan, no matter the situation.

I watched it live, if by watched it you mean listening to the audio and trying to make out the scrambled picture.
I was in otter shock.

Also, I really disliked the announcers' reaction to Hogan's turn. You'd think they would be shocked and dead silent. Instead, they jumped in and just threw out really lame words of anger that really came off as being read off of a prompter.

I watched it live... My first WCW PPV. Being a total mark I was with Dusty when Hulk Hogan came out.... "It's Hulk HOGAN!!!! LOOK WHO'S BAD NOW BOYS!!!!"
Heenan's comments ment nothing to me as because for 20 years he was anti hogan. At some points he respected him but he always hated him! One of the greatest rivals of all time, that really never got paid off after WM 3.

As an eleven year old mark, I was freaking out, thinking Hogan turning bad was the end of the world.

Yeah, I watched it live with my grandpa. I was shocked, he was delighted (as he hated Hogan and hated him being in WCW but was so old school he had a hard time jeering faces). Christmas came early for him that night as he got to call Hogan all the things he ever wanted and a bit of me died (as I saw a real life super hero turn to the darkside).

I did.
I was almost 8. I was a bigger WWF fan and thought it was legitimately WWF versus WCW. So I'm sitting there, thinking, man Bret Hart hasn't been on Raw in weeks! What if it's him? What if it's my favorite wrestler and WWF Champion, Shawn Michaels? What if he's the third man?
Hogan walks out. I was never that big of a Hogan fan. I was a much bigger fan of all four men in the ring, actually. But I never saw the turn coming. Probably because I was 8 but I digress. The second he dropped the leg drop, I immediately hated Hogan, Hall and Nash.
As for the rest of the show, the only thing I really remember is Mysterio/Psychosis. I remember being amazed at that match.

I watched it live...and I actually wasn't shocked when hogan turned, in my little mark mind he was the bad guy that was keeping me from seeing Sting with the title and the turn just cemented the fact that he came in to destroy Sting...to me at least
