Which people do you look up to in the business, not due to their wrestling skill?
Currently X Pac is really getting my attention, he seems to have turned his life around, as well as having legitamate voice and opinion on important topics. Same with Mick Foley
John Cena for the amount of effort he puts into being a company man. You may not like him but the guy gives time to his fans almost 24/7 (from what iv heard) and goes the extra mile when he doesnt hafto (signing all the photos).

I would say Foley up to a certain point, because I've grappled with this one a lot, because I consider Foley to be a personal hero of mine. Pay attention to the hard work, willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty, and the fact that, in an industry filled with stories of estrangement and distance between a wrestler and his family, he seems to have a great, loving relationship with his. On the flip side of that coin, ignore the ever increasing smug sense of self satisfaction of his charitable contributions(admirable though they are).

Terry Funk. He's had a long, very successful career with no drug/alcohol abuse or other majors scandals. Perhaps his biggest career misstep was walking out of the WWF and telling Vince he was leaving because he had a sick horse. He has been married to the mother of his children for nearly 40 years, and loves his grandkids.(Rumors of a Funk grandchild considering the business are starting to be heard) And, he's set financially because he planned carefully and saved his money. Finally, he's just a nice guy who is beloved in his hometown of Amarillo, Texas. He could run for mayor and win, easily.

On the Forever Hardcore doc dvd he said he chose to do the Shane Douglas show over the WWE show even though it was for more money because it was the right thing to do. From how he talked about it.....it seemed like he needed the money. Maybe I'm wrong on how I interpreted it. For who I admire? I'm gonna say Foley. Regardless that he's slowly becoming self-righteous about himself. Another would be Flair. He's Ric Flair.

Ax and Smash of Demolition and Tito Santana still wrestle because they love the business. Smash has two businesses, Ax has been a teacher, and Santana teaches spanish, coahces basketball and teaches at a wrestling school. All 3 men have shown that wrestlers can have very successful lives outside of the business if they're smart and invest wisely.

I think he even had to sell the Double Cross Ranch a few years ago. And I've also heard he's struggled with alcoholism (though I'm not sure if that's true).

Scott Hall...yeah I said it Scott Hall has always been my role model and always will be, watching him taught me that part of being great is being willing to and doing your best to make others look good, and his battle with his demons has taught me what to avoid so I can keep myself in this buisness

I've heard Santana is difficult to deal with for promoters and asks for a pretty big booking fee.

Santana has done a ton of convention signings, even one at a flea market a few weeks back. He can't be too tough to deal with if he's one of the more overused talents. A few promoters were already booking Melina for matches and signings so she can't be that be with the demands...

Tito Santana is a good role Model. So is Lanny Poffo. Both kept clean have their families and seem to be financially secure- own their own home.
So despite being treated like Jobbers- compare to their peers like Hawk, Rude, Henning, Bulldog or Hercules- they are still alive.

I know people mark out for guys like Ric Flair and Scott Hall but both are terrible role models to be honest.Flair with his finacial woes, when he should be well set for life after the career he has had,and Halls obvious failings. The likes of Ricky Steamboat,John Cena and Mick Foley i would consider to be some of the top Role Models in the industry,Gail Kim,Eve and a lot of the Shimmer Girls would be the best female role models for me.

And I've also heard he's struggled with alcoholism (though I'm not sure if that's true). Mick Foley has said that he made that up for an ECW anti-hardcore promo and people took the ball and ran with it. I'm pretty sure Funk has never been an alcoholic.

In general, the guys like Santana who love the business but have found a balance outside of it, Storm comes to mind for his perspective as well as ability to lead a, for lack of a better term, normal life. Of the guys that I have met and talked to, one that laways springs to mind is Nigel. Granted when we spent soem time working together, he was just beaking in and going through training, but the dude was a total sponge for information and yet easy going. What always struck me was sitting with him and Les, he never had the "I'm going to do all these thigns" attitude, it was more "Tell me what's important, waht are the things to work on". That's part of the reason I was so thrilled to see him succeed, because it felt like "good, he deserves this for how he's carried himself and the work he's put in".

Hacksaw Jim Duggan seems to be a genuinely nice guy and IMO he is/was a decent performer. He like Roddy Piper beat cancer.

No mention of Jericho? No drug problems, never involved in any real scandals, has taken breaks from the business, is a devoted family man, has a second career to fall back on, even has the guts to speak his mind to Vince McMahon.
