This is kind of a sad and depressing read. How much of a ****head to you have to be to get assaulted by THREE wives? But despite all the horrible things he may have done, I still idolize the man Ric Flair. He sure knows how to make something out of nothing. Did they really assault him or was Ric just selling for them? The man was always good at getting the best out of his opponents...

Exactly what I thought. Flair is the one who revealed he had this condition in his own autobiography. It's possible that he was misdiagnoised, as he has wrestled a lot over the past 6-8 years since the book has been released. But it's what he wrote in his book that's going to screw him over. The only mistake the writer made was not making a footnote as to where it came from. Meltzer commented on his board that when he got it in the 90's, he missed a few months, took meds and got cleared to wrestle. The condition hasn't caused him to miss time in the last few years despite doctor's orders not to A) drink or B) take steroids. We know he's done a lot of A and admitted to doing B in the time-frame since the diagnosis and probably was a regular user for a while in WWE.

Understatement of the year.

.....This person (The radio host, not the poster) is an idiot. 1. People are CRUCIFYING BOTH Hardys, ot defending the "Sleaze Merchants". 2. Yes, He's Ric Flair......but, that doesn't allow him to live tHAT far beyond his means. It doesn't allow to borrow LARGE sums of money, and expect the people that lent it to him to forgive him when he doesn;t hold up his end of the bargain. It doesn't matter how much entertainment he's "Given Us"...... He repeatedly uses his money in foolish ways, and yet we're supposed to pity him when he's broke.

"He still gets to be RIC FLAIR."
Yeah, he'll still get to be Ric Flair in jail, when he inevitably goes to prison for ripping someone off again.

If this were an article about Flair just having some money issues, I would say it wasn't anyone's business. But this article establishes that Flair screws people over in business deals, refuses to pay his taxes, and refuses to pay back any of the bills and loans he's taken out over the years while blowing his money acting like he's a 21-year-old all over again. It's pathetic and establishes that Flair is not a good guy. He's a pathetic hasbeen that takes advantage of people and regularly allows himself to be taken advantage of. Then there's the "so he flashed a few people" argument. Apparently, the WWE thought he did a lot more than flash a few people when they settled out of court with the two women who said that he made them grope him. Once again, this is not a good guy. Here's another line from Madden... Yeah, Mark, and I bet Flair hasn't paid for those either. Yes, he's still Ric Flair. A drunken, past-his-prime, sixty-two-year-old man who tries to act like a teenager and screw people over in business deals. Very noble...

Nice to see Earl Ebner talk about Vince putting him in charge of taking care of Flair on the road and it nearly killed him as he was sleeping 4 hours a night. Flair was partying and drinking every day!

Funny enough, I agree with Madden on most points. Flair's a guy who not only is still alive after all his trials and tribulations, but at 62, can still go and still make memorable moments. Sure he spends like a motherf***er, but that's FLAIR for you. I'm not defending Flair's actions or anything, but it seems to me that on most things talked about in the analysis, Madden is spot-on.
The Hardy discussion is like inadmissible evidence in a trial. Don't bring it up and don't discuss it.

Madden was the editor of Flair's book. Of course he's going to stand up for him.

The Ric Flair being Ric Flair character making it OK is just a cop-op. What if it were a character on TV or Movies that kills people, a fantastic actor but over time just snaps, it can't be OK because it's Jason or Freddy just being Freddy. Granted, Flair isn't a murderer but screwing people financially isn't something to justify because Flair wheeling and dealing and losing out is OK because it's Ric being Ric. You can't justify one because it's him taking his character to real life when you can't justify the other (TV murderer).

In a way it makes it more pathetic in that Madden's essentially saying that Ric can't tell his character from reality.
Which I guess is true, but still, it's not really a logical defense.

By the time Flair's life is over, the inevitable movie is going to make "The Wrestler" seem like "Toy Story."
Also, Mark Madden proves yet again that he is a f***ing idiot. How can one person be so wrong about absolutely everything?
