What I mean is, why/when did they stop having a segment or two on every show advertising upcoming events? I guess now they advertise stuff like that in the little boxes that pop up during matches, but do people actually pay attention to that?
The last few times WWE has ran shows nearby, i didn't know until it was too late. I feel like their advertising is pretty lousy in that area: and they're depending on the internet and local radio/tv ads.

Whenever they come to Pittsburgh, there's always ads during the commercial break. Though they don't hype that they're coming during the show itself.
*shrug*

Because Dok Handrix became Michael Hayes again. There's simply no one else that can do it.

They do it ALL THE TIME in the UK. About 3 segments for every 2 hours are devoted to it. The most recent one was promising people like Jericho, which is funny because it's a safe bet that he won't be around in November.
I can't quite recall if they still do those weird recorded commentary segments though. It used to be so out of place within a match, say for example Michael Cole would be calling the match as usual, and then he'd suddenly sound much louder and be talking about tickets for shows in places like Nottingham. I always wondered as a kid, 'do the American people even know these places exist? Why would they buy tickets to a show 5,000 miles away?'
But yeah, we do still have the little ad segments. I might be mistaken but one recent ad had something along the lines of 'see all your favourite superstars in action, like KELLY KELLY!'

There's a house show here in early June and they've been advertising it like twice a show during commercial breaks since late February.

We get segments all time in Canada advertising dates. The stars even cut promos for them on occasion. Yeah that's right, Canada is so awesome that we get exclusive promos.

They've been showing tour dates on Raw, Smackdown and NXT for Raw's Australia tour in July/August for like the last 4 months and I'm in New Zealand and I remember watching NXT on youtube and I think they showed an ad bar for a tour in South Africa.

I'm surprised to see so many people say they see ads for upcoming shows. I guess it's just a thing handled by local cable providers or something? I have DirecTV, so that might explain why I don't ever see those ads. It could also be because WWE doesn't run shows in my city.

I always wondered as a kid, 'do the American people even know these places exist? Why would they buy tickets to a show 5,000 miles away?' In the late-1980s/early-1990s, Howard Finkel used to do voiceovers during matches that would advertise house shows or TV tapings coming to the area. This was back when Superstars and Wrestling Challenge aired in syndication and were the two big TV shows. If you had a PPV coming to your area, Mean Gene's PPV report would be slightly different than the one that aired everywhere else because he would push ticket sales rather than buying the PPV. They still do advertise live events during Raw and Smackdown every week in the United States, but it's just done via a graphic at the bottom of the screen during one of the matches.

If a show is coming to your market they'll run local ads leading up to tickets going on sale.
