As in refusing to drop a gimmick or notion or really anything well past its sell-by date. Either that or wrestlers who dip in the nostalgia pool so much their skin is as wrinkled as Ric Flair's. I've got three off the top of my head and they should all be pretty damn obvious.
X-PAC I shouldn't have to say too much. He was practically DX all the way from its formation to the nWo revival, even when everybody else in the stable had moved on to varying extents. With Pac, it seriously seems like since his debut he's only ever been variants on 1-2-3 Kid, Syxx, and X-Pac. As much as I like him in the ring, he really should've wised up to how stale his look was getting well before the X-PAC SUCKS chants.
MARTY JANNETTY Did the man seriously ever make an attempt to be Not A Rocker since getting tossed through the barbershop window? Granted his sporadic appearances due to his other... indulgences probably had an effect, but really, if he was ever going to make any attempt to be taken seriously, he needed to run as far away from the day-glo and fringe as possible.
SHANE DOUGLAS ECW is dead and buried, yet he still stubbornly attempts to reanimate its dessicated corpse. I think we've seen enough of his attention whoring for me to have to explain any more.

Well Marty and Douglas are desperately clinging to that brief time in their careers when they were relevant and over.

In Jannetty's case, he could have held on and it would have been alright for at least a couple more years if it wasn't for all his issues. Of course they can't not bring him back as a Rocker, since that's the biggest pop he'll receive. If perhaps he stayed clean, he could have had a decent run as a midcarder and maybe altered his gimmick somewhere down the road, but getting released several times didn't help matters.

I don't know about Shane, but the other two, it could have been case of "No one told me to change it", and they simply ran with it and didn't change it.

Is it sad that all I could think about when I saw this is "Man, Ken Patera in the modern day must look like shit"?

HOGAN. Seriously at his best Hogan was a mediocre wrestler who got big because of a giant hype machine being behind him but guess what? By the time 2005 , Even the hype machine pretty much gave up.

Hogan and Flair? Are you guys kidding? The guys made millions off that image and given their financial situations, I wouldn't even attempt to change my image.
That's like Colonel Sanders dressing up like a chicken because people were tired of the white suit. It's an instantaneous connection you see when you see the red and yellow, it only makes sense to continue to push that.

I LOVE the idea of having wrestlers confiscate signs. It encourages people to bring anti-Ace signs so they can have them taken away and be on TV for a second.

To think, one of those was because of parole obligations. That's why the 2005 run was cut short.

i guess when people mean they dont want to move on,they mean they should just stop, because no one care about then anymore. Outside of fading to absurdity, what choice do they have? Should Hogan honestly shave his mustache and become Terry? Should Ric Flair pierce his ear and become a gladiator? V1 was a major change from his extreme character. Also, the tights he wore very briefly is an attire change, at least. Granted, it didn't work because that's what the people want. Jeff Hardy and RVD on the other hand...

Not only were you right with your assumption, but the match was also a giant turd. Right up there with some of the well know botchfests of untrained indie guys. Probably not Backlund's fault.
