Up to the final boss with the party of Anita (Fury and Falcon Rune. Once hit for 2000 damage with the Falcon Rune) Oulan (Fury and Angry Dragon Rune. Hits for huge damage and is essentially my meatshield because of her awesome HP and defense stats) Sierra (Thunder and Fury Rune. Combination of a spellcaster and fighter and hits pretty decently physically as well as huge amounts of damage with the Thunder Rune) Hero (Blue Gate Rune, Bright Shield Rune and Rage Rune. Pretty much pure mage and hits pretty hard also.) Tengaar (Mother Earth and Flowing Rune. Support mage but throws around Earthquake spells which tore the Beast Rune apart thanks to her awesome Earth affinity as well as a good healer) Bob (Rabid Fang and Double Beat Runes. Absolutely kills bitches dead when transformed. Normally he's pretty weak but as a werewolf, he gets the opening strike everytime and hits twice for about 400 damage each strike. However I got him berserk and he dealt 800 damage per strike which means three turns of about 1600 damage each.) So yeah, Beast Rune went down hard. Keep in mind that's the Beast Rune and it has a spell that hits for over 500 damage in a game where only three characters break 1000 HP at max level.

Cool...where'd you get the pic, because I see Flik and the hero from Suikoden I in it.
First time I beat Beast rune, I used Hero, Mikoltov, Camus, Flik, Chaco, and I don't remember who the last guy was. Didn't have the first hero.

First time I beat Beast rune, I used Hero, Mikoltov, Camus, Flik, Chaco, and I don't remember who the last guy was. Didn't have the first hero. I just used a random picture of the Beast Rune battle that I found on google. I try not to use the hero from 1 because he is seriously broken. I said that I broke the game wide open because I wasn't expecting the fighters that I picked to be so effective while Tir was designed to be overpowered. On your team, outside of Chaco it's pretty good all around. Miklotov is a good meat shield while Flik and Camus are good magicians as well as strong fighters. Of course, f*** Chaco although that's based on his personality during the Two River City sections.

I didn't like his personality either, but I think I chose him for range, because Flik, Miklotov, and Camus are all S, and my hero and the other guy were both M and L. I generally used the Hero to spam the group heal the whole time after using the Blue Gate rune the first two rounds. I spent hours looking for Balance runes for Mik and Cam, because their combo attack puts them out for the next round. Never did find them, and I think I caused squirrel man genocide in the process.
Also found out the hard way that if you have the fire rune on the hero's weapon, his second hit misses every time.

I went with a party of Hero, Oulan, Valeria, Tengaar, Millie, and Ayda (I like to travel in harems in Suikoden). Millie and Ayda were the weak spots but still were able to contribute some decent damage, had Tengaar as my pure mage, mostly with Mother Earth, Oulan and Valeria were beating the Beast Rune down every turn, and Hero was filling whatever role necessary in a turn. Didn't break the boss quite like your party did though.

I wish Sierra would show up in other games. Though I liked the references to her Nash made in III.

Anybody know if PSN plans on releasing this on their PSone classics? I'd totally buy I and II just to get the hero from I in my party.

If only. I really don't know what Konami and/or Sony have against this game, especially since Suikoden I's been on the PSOne classics for years. I didn't like the game as much as some, but it's a real dick move.

I wish Sierra would show up in other games. Though I liked the references to her Nash made in III. She was the co-protagonist of the first chapter of Suikogaiden alongside Nash which was nice. But she's an ideal recurring character because she would have good reason to appear in a number of games as she's immortal and was travelling around hunting former inhabitants of her village. Plus Suikoden II did a Vampire and Werewolf character before Twilight so there's that. And it's a werewolf with dreadlocks which is even more awesome.

I honestly can't remember my last team. I want to say it was Flik, Valeria and Anita in the front, Riou, Killey and Luc in the back, but I'm not sure.
this game should've been available on the PSN years ago. ditto Valkyrie Profile and Legend of Dragoon (yes, I liked that game).
