Because he has to let someone else get Oscar nominations.
Seriously though, i went a long time hating this man and wondering why he was famous at all.
Being an aspiring actor myself, it always pissed me off.
The past 5-6 years have changed my view on him a great deal. I have come to appreciate his quirky, off kilter, sometimes psychotic, wacky ways. I have been loving everything he has been doing since around 2006.
Wicker Man, Drive Angry, Bad Lieutenant just to name a few.
He knows what he is doing. When he has a crap role in a crap movie, he makes the most of it and just says f*** it.
Oh and not calling those movies crap. They are quite awesome...but without Cage in them (and William Fichtner in Drive Angry), I doubt they would be nearly as good.

Nic Cage is immensly fun to watch in films, it's like he is the entertainment actor.
If they make an Expendables 3 I want Nic Cage as first choice actor to get a role.

Some movies don't deserve the greatness that is Nicolas Cage.

I'm glad people are coming around to Nicolas Cage, who seems to just like acting, and is generally entertaining at it, even if the movie/script isn't quite up to snuff. A hammy Nicolas Cage is entertaining as hell, and he almost always seems to treat his material seriously, like he's giving it a fair shake, so even when it's a bad script, you could at least end up in "so bad it's good" territory because he's not goofing around with the material - he's letting the material speak for itself.

This is my relationship with Nicolas Cage. When that youtube compilation brought to attention how insane the Wicker Man is, me and my friends started watching that and other Cage movies ironically just to make fun of his performances but we were watching Snake Eyes, when it finally clicked that the dude is really in control of his insanity and is unlike anyone else on screen. He's pretty well up there as my all time favorite actor now strangely enough. His performance in Bad Lieutenant is just perfection.

I love me some Nicolas Cage. I loved the national treasure movies and The Sorcerers Apprentice was a really fun movie.

Thanks. I guess I had seen about half of those movies, but didn't recognize them due to being taken out of context. The rest will be watched throughout the week though.

My favourite modern actor.
The man does make a lot of bad films but that's because he makes a lot of films full stop.
