I've basically stopped buying games at stores since I got a smart phone. I basically just keep Amazon pulled up on the web browser and price compare. Only ONCE have I ever found a better deal at a brick and mortar (30 for the Uncharted 1+2 dual pack)

Only ONCE have I ever found a better deal at a brick and mortar (30 for the Uncharted 1+2 dual pack) Buying online may be cheaper, but brick and mortar has convenience. You don't have to wait for it to ship to you, just get in, get out, boom you are back home playing the game just minutes after purchasing it. It is that convenience that I prefer to buy at brick and mortar. Does it cost more compared to shopping online? Sure, but when I want to buy a new game, I want to play as soon as I buy it. That's not possible with online shopping. I'm not a patient person.

I like giving business to indie shops when I can. Shame none of them are really that close, though there's a fantastic one in North Jersey called Digital Press. Though one of the guys who owns/works there is kind of a creep.

See I would too, but the only "indie" shops in my metropolitan area is just another, albeit smaller, chain of game stores called Game X Change, and sure they have a MUCH wider selection of games(they have games from the NES to the present consoles), but I don't think they ever carry new games, their entire business model seems to run on used games and systems. So as much as I like to give them money, it is usually only on old Genesis or PS1 games whenever I stop in there. I'm sure as hell not swinging by there for games released on the current consoles. They do sell Blu-rays and DVDs, though, which gives them a small leg up over GameStop.

Though one of the guys who owns/works there is kind of a creep. There's one in the town I live in called Plug N Play. I really like it because they carry games for a ton of different consoles. They have games for NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PSX, PS2, GBA, Xbox and all the current consoles. Of course the selection for the older games is kind of limited but it's not bad for a store as small as that one is. Plus, they do repair work on consoles and buy/trade games. Pretty much eliminates my need to go to Gamestop. Though I still hit up Gamestop from time to time because they have a huge selection of cheap PS2 titles.

Buy a game for 60 and trade it in for 8? What. did he play it for 3 years?

Buy a game for 60 and trade it in for 8? What. did he play it for 3 years? I was wondering about that, too, because they usually give you in the area of $25-$30 from a game if you trade it in relatively soon after the release date. Hell you could still probably get $10 out of it a year or so later.

Even trading games in, I usually get a better deal from Amazon. Tried Goozex, but they rarely had things I wanted available for trade.

BTW, looking at the site, it just looks like another version of eBay. You have to list a game, ship it out to whoever decides to pay for it, and you get paid via online payment (paypal on Ebay, their glyde thing here)

Yeah, Goozex was good for a while but there really isn't anything worth getting on there anymore. I have 800 points and 1 trade token left and I'm trying to use up all my points on one thing so I can be done with them.

There used to be a great one about 10 minutes away, but they got dicked over by the rent or something and had to close up shop. I know of a whole bunch of indie shops in Manhattan though. A lot of them are also in Chinatown that have (legit!) imports from Japan.

I knew it was near Reynolda Library and Family Video, but figured that Wake Forest was a bigger "non-local" landmark.

I for one never go into the E.B. anymore because their prices for used games are a joke and the 2 older women who run it are rude.
