My picks for the weekend's games:
Bengals (just barely) Saints (I'm a Lions fan, but also realistic) Giants (could go either way though) Steelers
Who I'm rooting for:
Bengals/Texans (really, I like both teams, so I'm hoping for a good game here.) Lions (shocking, I know) Giants (no real reason) Antonio Brown (CMU represent!)

^Completely agree, injuries and being away from home and if it's say... 13-7 going in to the fourth quarter? A Denver win isn't out of the question. Thankfully the media on English tv towards NFL is lacking, so I won't hear anything. But I do feel sorry for the fans of football if Denver does win, and I don't even think it is Denver's fault, just the media. I take it you don't watch NFL: Total Access on SkySports? The Tebow love is sickening.

If ESPN didn't exist, Tim Tebow would be 100% less reviled. Possibly 1000%.
I don't even really hate Tebow much, though I think his religious posturing is obnoxious. I just really hate the coverage of him, especially ESPN's. I'm adamant if that the media didn't love him, people wouldn't feel the need to bash or hate on him since they wouldn't really care about him one way or another. He would just be another player. But this has been going on since college. ESPN had an entire special dedicated to him. Like an hour long special. No other average second year player has gotten this kind of lovefest. Hell, no other GREAT rookie or second year player has. Cam Newton has been a force to be reckoned with. Where's all his love? What about Andy Dalton? Antonio Brown? Jason Pierre-Paul? Victor Cruz? John Skelton?
God, f*** ESPN.

I think to understand the Tebow hype, you really have to look at the money to be made off of the name. Like him or not, good player or not, the name "Tebow" is a sports network's wet dream - it doesn't get much better than that name right now. If his jersey still isn't the best selling, it's probably still one of the best - there's money to be made off of the name.
As long as Tebow is relevant the hype will continue and they'll continue to talk about him, same with Brady, Manning (well Peyton that is, Eli never gets the love/credit he deserves), so on and so forth.
I can understand that people are tired of hearing his name, but I honestly believe it goes back to the ratings and money to be had.

This Tebow hype can absolutely not be blamed on Tebow himself.
Tebow is just doing what's he doing- providing football that is impossible to turn away from, win or lose.
It's a case of who took the ball and ran with it.
He didn't do anything on his own accounts: it's ESPN and the other networks that have ignored the comeback exploits of Eli (4th quarter Superman) and Stafford (overcoming 10+ point deficits 4 times this season). That's not on Tebow in my eyes. He has not done anything wrong.
But the combination of network coverage, talking about him more than a 5,000 yard 40+ touchdown QB like Stafford, how the networks and talking heads have done their pieces on him- that was the pouring of gasoline on the Tebow inferno.
(This is coming from someone who screamed for Tebow during the Packer game and he never took a single snap).

Cincy vs Houston:
The Bungles will be the Bungles, but Houston may have Jake Delhomme at QB. Sorry Texan fans.
Cincy wins 24-13
Pittsburgh at Denver:
Tebowmania vs the Pittsburgh defense. On paper, this looks like a no brainer. But it's in Denver, where weird stuff happens. No Mendenhall, and Ben is banged up. I originally had Pittsburgh winning, and have changed my mind several times.
My final pick..........grrrr...........ahhh.......Denver wins a squeaker , 21-17
Detroit at New Orleans:
Detroit has been hit or miss since their hot start. New Orleans is tough as hell at home. Congrats on making the playoffs, Lions fans. Your run ends quick.
Saints win a shootout 38-34
Falcons at New York Giants:
Atlanta is a fraud. They beat a bunch of soft teams and struggled against the really good ones. The Giants are Jeckyl and Hyde. I think the "good" Giants show up at home.
Giants 28-17

I can understand that people are tired of hearing his name, but I honestly believe it goes back to the ratings and money to be had. Tebow has the number 2 selling jersey, behind Rodgers. Prior to the media love-fest around the guy, he was out of the top 10. He's a top seller because the media put all their focus on him, not the only other way around. It's a self-fulfilling prophesy. If they had put their press on Cam Newton, Newton would probably be in that spot. I don't think anyone doesn't understand why there's the lovefest, it's just that people are tired of it. He's a marketable face, he's a good person, his religion draws people who probably wouldn't care about football otherwise, so on and so forth. We get that. For him, it's been like that since high school, and when it got to college that continued on the national stage. People are going to blame the media for it, because they're the ones who are responsible. Is it all his fault? Not really, but his fans and the media have caused the backlash none-the-less (not helped by the fact that, unfortunately, there's a lot of them that made it not about football, but about religion). Thankfully, it's died down as the team has stumbled the past 3 games (although I do think they have a chance to beat the Steelers, who I think aren't as good as their record indicates). Once it permanently dies out and the novelty wears out, I believe the hate for him will drop significantly. Now, I'll want him to fail as long as he's a Bronco, because I'm a Chief's fan, but that's a different matter entirely.

Not buying it, smokescreen for Pittsburgh is all this is (IMO). Tebow has been bad for the past few weeks, I'll make no excuses for this, but you're going to pull an experienced (in this offense, that is) Tebow for Brady Quinn? The guy that hasn't gotten hardly any practice with the starters, in the playoffs no less? No matter how bad Tebow plays on Sunday I can't see the Broncos putting in Quinn, that's just asking for a loss given that he hasn't even worked with the team.

All I know is...for Lions/Saints and Steelers/Broncos, one of them will be an upset. I don't know which one, and I will pretty much bank on the fact that both of them won't be, but I do feel that either the Saints or Steelers will be in for a nasty surprise.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports former Chiefs HC Toddy Haley and former Dolphins HC Tony Sparano have discussed "joining forces" as offensive coordinators in 2012.
According to Schefter, Sparano would coach the running game while Haley manned the passing game.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Chiefs are planning to retain interim head coach Romeo Crennel for the 2012 season. GOOD. Winning two of the last three games, with those wins against playoff teams INCLUDING GREEN BAY, is a promising sign of things to come in Kansas City, esp. where they have a good starter base of players to work with.

While I don't think Denver is gonna win, I don't see it as this big mismatch in Pittsburgh's favor. They're dealing with some injuries & if Denver's pass rush can get to Ben, they might be in for a challenge.

Miller hasn't been the same since he got that cast on his hand, it's understandable of course, but hopefully him and Elvis can bring the same fire we saw earlier in the season.

Denver's defense also benefited a lot from playing teams with weak, injured, or mistake-prone offenses. Of course Steelers right now fit in category 2. Roethlisberger's playing hurt, Mendenhall's out, and I think Pouncey's out, too.
I just don't see the Broncos doing much offensively, though. They've crumbled against good defenses this year (despite Rex Ryan's claims, the Jets are not a good defense outside of Revis) and it seems like D's in the past few weeks have figured out how to get to Tebow (cut off the pocket, force him to throw) where even the awful Pats D stopped them. If the Steelers can stop the run, it's over. And I'm pretty sure they've been coached this way because Mike Tomlin is a very good (and IMO underrated) coach.
Though speaking of underrated coaches, I think John Fox has been underrated this year. I think the strides Denver's defense made this season are his doing, given his defense-minded approach. All the Tebow magic conveniently overshadowed the improvements to Broncos D that I think Fox is at least partially responsible for.
