So I'm thinking about getting a kindle fire. Does anybody here on the board have one and how do you like it? Or should I just save up to get a ipad 2? I have use both, but very little of each.

I got one for Christmas and am enjoying using it.
In fact, I've made a few posts on this board and used the net regularly with it.
But again, I got it for free so I may be biased there.

My aunt got one for Christmas and it's quite nice. I didn't get to use it too much though so I don't know what all it's capable of. I do like that it's got a nice big screen, but isn't quite as big and bulky as the iPad. I can imagine the iPad being a little uncomfortable to use sometimes, like when you're in the bed or something.

I personally am leaning iPad myself, partially because I'm a dedicated Mac user, partially because it seems to do a lot more than just books, which I certainly would not mind.
Only drawback is the iBookstore is a LOT more limited currently than Amazon is and I was hoping to defray some of the cost of the iPod with saving on on my college books. So... poop there.

The Kindle Fire can do more than books as well. It is a legit tablet.

My dad got one for Christmas and I play on it sometimes. I love it. Well worth the money.

I work at Office Depot and I've started to hear some reviews that the response time of the screen is poor and some other negative things about it. The color and video is great though ... I'd say save your money for the Fire 2, let Amazon work the bugs out of this one.

My dad won one and he likes it a lot.I'm pretty impressed with it myself.
And if for some reason you don't like the interface or being limited to just the Amazon store, it's incredibly easy to get access to the regular Android Marketplace or root it to just use the regular Android GUI. Best of all, Amazon's taking a hands off approach about it. They don't exactly encourage it, but they're not going to fight users wanting to jailbreak the tablet either.
