Seeing the Step by Step vs. Full House thread got me remembering the good old days of TGIF. Of course, the centerpiece of the block was Family Matters, in no small part because of the Steve Urkel character. To be honest, part of of me feels kind of bad for Jaleel White that he has had to live with this character for so long, but I also remember the show fondly as a treasured part of my childhood. In my personal opinion, the early seasons where Urkel was still a side character rather than the focus of the show were the best. In the later seasons they got into these weird sci-fi oriented plots that just did not seem to fit with the original mood of the show. And it seemed like, as Urkel got more and more prominent, some of the other characters got more and more mean toward him-perhaps an effect of the animosity some of the other actors legit felt toward Urkel stealing their spotlight. Nonetheless, I am sure I am not the only Family Matters mark on here, and would love to share my nostalgia trip with my fellow board members. My personal faves remain the very first Urkel-bot episode, the one where Carl had a dream about being in the old west, and the episode where this happened: Anyone else got any favorites?

Probably the character's shining moment.
