This was the second game to ever make me cry actual tears of frustration, the first being Pokemon Stadium. It did not function like normal Yugioh games, but it was freakishly addicting. I'll get that Meteor Black Dragon soon enough.

One of the hardest games I've ever played

It'd be one thing if it was difficult on a fair level. But it's broken on the basis of the card game itself, and has a certain number of monsters that are just plain unstoppable. And lo and behold, those come out in full force pretty damn quick.
I had it when I was first into Yu-Gi-Oh and loved it. I've recently gotten back into it and, looking back, I don't know how the hell I played it so much.

The fusion system made next to no damn sense, usually with fusions being a crap shoot for the most part, and just my damn luck, I usually ended up with a creature that was weaker than either of the two or more monsters I fused together.
Really the only thing I think this game has going for it is the 3D battle animations.

The battle system was so interesting though, it was like a new card game. The whole rock paper scissors thing with the star alignments. No effect monsters meaning all but 10 monsters were useless. Equip combinations that were not possible, and finally, ***ing Pegasus and his 4 rageki's.

You haven't seen a horrible Yu-Gi-Oh! game until you played "Reshef of Destruction" on the GameBoy Advance.

I dunno, but every YuGiOh game I've ever played makes me want to grind my teeth down to the gum line.

Yeah, it may not be a conventional YGO game, but Duelist of the Roses was always fun to me. Dark Duel Stories, not so much.

I HATED Duelists Of The Roses. I like the traditional/World Championship based ones, since it's about what YGO's about: Children's Card Games. The game is already a somewhat complicated mess and you try to add more complication layers to it with the SRPG grid movement system? Sorry Konami, not the kind of YGO game I was waiting for.
For the little I played of Forbidden Memories, it seemed kinda broken but it was truer to the 1st season of the series. But for me, the traditional/WC games are where it's at (just love WC2011, my most played game on the DS, believe it or not). Although with the story mode the have right now they are more robust, even if the stories aren't that good and throw the canon out of the window for the most part.

I still have this game. I got it when Yu-Gi-Oh was in the height of it's popularity, and I loved it. It was hard and frustrating as f***, but addicting.
I haven't played it since, but reading some of the comments here is making me think I should avoid ever playing it again.

This kind of makes me want to play Duelist of the Roses again. I remember renting it and being incredibly disappointed when I realized it wasn't anything like the regular card game. That intro was awesome though.
