I've always thought that SF 2 is overshadowed massively by SF4 (and SF3, to a lesser degree), so I figured to take time in appreciating both the original, and Super versions, of Street Fighter 2.
I always find myself playing the SNES ports every now and then, and the arcade versions when I get the chance.

I never play any of them anymore. No need to when you have Alpha 3 and Third Strike.

Loves me some SF II, I've got the original for SNES, Super Turbo Revival for GBA, Super Turbo HD for PSN, plus all the other versions on the Capcom Collections for PS2.
Can't say I'm that good, but I've always loved he SF series. Been playing since II came out, will never get tired of the SF franchise

I still consider SF 2 the gold standard not just for the Street Fighter franchise, but for fighting games as a whole.

I never play any of them anymore. No need to when you have Alpha 3 and Third Strike. Compared to Alpha 3 and Third Strike, SF2 and its many revisions feature better backgrounds, music, and stories. SF2's end boss also isn't nearly as cheap as the end boss of SFA3 or SF3 in particular. SF3 features the best play mechanics of any Street Fighter game, but I want to shut the game off every time I make it to Gill to save myself unnecessary frustration and lost time.

I don't see how SF2 is overshadowed when the game still gets massive amounts of love and play all over the world. Especially Super Turbo, game gets huge amounts of serious play and still gets new stuff found for it.

Funny you say that later games have overshadowed SF2 when Super Turbo STILL has one of the most active competitive scenes when it comes to fighters. It's had a crazy long shelf life and SF4 and SSF4 (not so much AE though AE2012 apparently fixes that) are really the only games in the series that come close to ST's balance.

Except unlike ST SFIV did it by pretty much neutering everyone. 3S has balance problems but I'd much rather play a low or mid tier like Necro or Jugo in that game than someone like Guile or T. Hawk in SFIV. Characters feel weak as hell and things like large stages, invincible back dashes, walk speeds being shit, and offensive being so meh makes even top tiers feel boring.
