There are two commentaries on the DVD: one with movie staff and one with old fans who grew up and got involved in the Transformers franchise. The latter commentary is excellent.

As quoted in the book Whatever Happened to Orson Welles by Joseph McBride on page 229: But I'm sure what he meant was:

One of my top ten favourite films. Seen dozens of times to the point where I could recite it word-for-word. I've been working on two projects. One being something of a restoration - fixing the many errors in colour timing and animation and cleaning up the sound mix as much as possible - and the other being an experiment in replacing the original electronic score (which is fantastic) with more traditional orchestral versions of the same score:

Damn, I still gotta get the DVD. Wish Shout! would do it on blu-ray like GI Joe: The Movie.
Oh and, of course, I must do it...

Prime dying still makes me tear up Stupid Hot Rod. If you're going to create a new line of toys, at least make the leader a likeable one.

That made him really whiny after the movie, then he finally "Man's up" only to have the next epsiode be the one they bring Prime back.

I feel like Hot Rod is fine for his role in the movie, though I kind of just ignore the series altogether. I was really excited to see it after I saw the movie like a million times, but was sad to find that I didn't really enjoy the series at all. I found that I missed how high the stakes were, with nothing ever really happening in the series as opposed to the massive paradigm shifts with every scene change in the movie, as well as the badass music.

On the upside, the TV show has wonderfully dated things like an Arab nation of CARBOMBIYA, Population 10,000 camels.

Maybe Orson Wells just hated that the role hit so close to home. They were both planets that devoured everything in their paths.

I always liked the fact that a dying old man who didn't give a tin shit about the characters still put in quite a memorable performance.

And I'm still upset that they never made a toy of Arcee.

Whatever piece of Transformers media uses Unicron next (TF: Prime did the most recent unicron story) NEEDS to have Maurice LaMarche play him, Orson Welles voice and all (Maurice actually did play Six Gun in the G1 ep "Thief in the Night" but that was a single episode voicing a relatively minor character).

Best part of the move was when Spike swore.
That and the badass knife fight between Prime and Megatron.

I've been saying for years I can't believe Bay hasn't used Unicron.
I don't like those movies, but if there is anything that screams for Bay it is a giant Transforming planet that eats other planets.
Optimus Prime could form a drill team to go up there and stop him.
