In excitement (yes I start early) at the prospect of the 2012 Royal Rumble I am watching this one just now, I'm not that far in but I wondered what everyone's opinion was on this match and where it ranks in comparison to others?
EDIT: Just finished, boy was that dull until 30

Most of it was pretty meh, but the ending with HBK/Taker was brilliant.
I felt the 2008 Rumble was much better.

If i remember correctly, wasnt there a part where shawn michaels was hanging precariously on the ropes and RVD rushes to help him in(kayfabing making it look like hes trying to throwing him out)
I knew from that shawn was either planned to win or do something major at the end.

I loved the HBK/'Taker finish, the Edge-Randy Orton team up, and Khali dominating, but can't really remember much else.
And Cena vs. Umaga, which was pretty good.

I honestly don't remember a lot about this Rumble apart from Taker and HBK at the end.
This PPV did have the awesome Cena v Umaga match though.

I loved how long it was just the two of them at the end.
Them being 1 and 2 at the '08 Rumble was a nice touch, too.

I actually really liked this Rumble until Khali entered and was put over about eight or nine of the brightest stars, established and new, in wrestling, despite being even worse a worker then than he is now.
Ending was amazing though.

And Cena vs. Umaga, which was pretty good. Pretty good? It was an amazing match. Gripping. I'd dare say Cena's best - and the dude has had MANY great matches.

Cena/Umaga was epic and the Rumble finish with Taker/HBK was, to me, the best ever.

Am I the only one who liked Batista vs Kennedy?

Cena vs Umaga was an excellent brawl. Hands down the best match of the Umaga character.

Refresh my memory. Is this the one where Shawn has to direct Khali to the hard camera?

Refresh my memory. Is this the one where Shawn has to direct Khali to the hard camera? Yep. Also, I actually enjoyed this Rumble and thought it was one of the best ones in recent years. I liked that we had ECW included (especially when Sandman came out, even though he was barely in the match) as well as the overall roster and pacing. Also, between Punk's first appearance, Finlay's performance and other spots, I really thought it was a good Rumble. And while I don't like that Khali eliminated a bunch of guys, I liked when everyone freaked out upon his entry, and how everyone reacted when Undertaker came out. *Everyone gets eliminated Cole: The power, the strength. Who can stop, WHO CAN STOP, the Great Khali? JBL: Absolutely no one. 3 2 1 *Gong Cole: Maybe there is someone!!!!!

especially when Sandman came out, even though he was barely in the match I remember that he washed a woman when he opened his can of beer

I like that Rumble match, and really enjoyed the HBK/Taker ending. 08 for me seemeed like an overcrowded clusterf***, especially with the cameramen missing half the action that was going on in that match.

i loved all of it, seemed like a good ballence of being crowded, and less filled, but then again it helps that its follows the 06 rumble which was horrendous
