Just bought the new issue. There's an interview with Steve Austin and the final question garnered what I thought was an interesting response:
PS: A question you have surely been expecting: could you ever envisage yourself returning to the ring for a one-off match?
Stone Cold: Awww, man. Look, I'll tell you this much: If I was going to do anything in WWE, I'd do something with Punk. Like I said, I love what he's doing, and there's a lot of parallels. I'm not saying it's definitely going to happen, but if I could cherry-pick my opponent, and all the stars lined up, I'd love to work a programme with him.
Between the lines he sounds quite positive, or am I over-analyzing?
Also reading that interview I now want Austin to be a lifelong Head of Talent Relations/Head Road Agent. He has a great eye and a great mind, obviously.

I bet he would still want to go over Punk though.

He's been saying stuff along those lines for quite a while. I'll go into town and read PS in the shops a little later today. I refuse to buy a copy and give them my money because they are so negative its ridiculous.

I refuse to buy a copy and give them my money because they are so negative its ridiculous. I actually reckon that Austin would lay down for Punk. On the Power Slam thing, I agree. Chances are, that if you read PS, you pretty much know that wrestling is scripted, but PS patronizes the hell out of its readers - and I was reading it when it was 'Superstars of Wrestling'. Its now so smug and arrogant in its reporting that I read Fighting Spirit Magazine now. The air that PS gives out is that only they know how WWE should book everything. That and the fact that when someone like Mark Henry breaks several wrestler's legs, we all assume its real - even though he never gets arrested - how dumb do they think it's readers are?! At least FSM have an enthusiasm and trust in their readers that they already know what's going on that's been missing from PowerSlam for about five years now.

Totally agree on the Power Slam/Fighting Spirit Front, although the latter seems to be so hard to find in shops recently.

While I agree that PS is often negative, I don't think it ever insults it's readers intelligence. It certainly doesn't protect kayfabe.
Also been reading (and collecting) since it was superstars of wrestling

He's been saying this for awhile, and I think WWE is going to eventually figure out that this could = money and do it.
Agree with the consensus on Powerslam. Incredibly miserable to read these days, just negativity after negativity.

Also been reading (and collecting) since it was superstars of wrestling sorry - I meant that they insist on telling us something (ridiculous) has happened - ie. Mark Henry breaks fellow employees legs, faces no censure from his bosses and no visits from the police, then have to virtually underline the fact that this is pure storyline. WE HAVE BEEN READING POWER SLAM AND WATCHING WWE FOR YEARS! WE KNOW HOW IT WORKS!! There is an air of arrogance, negativity and patronage that is all-pervasive in this magazine. It's a shame because in it's day, it was the ONLY magazine on wrestling I would ever buy...
