Somebody spoiled the whole movie on a forum I frequent, thankfully all in spoiler tags. ...But that didnt stop me from peeking at the last few sentences. 'Cause I'm useless and weak. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}There are two major surprises in this one...one I totally called would happen when production started on this thing , and the other is very expected given the already existing audience preperation for X-Men: Apocalypse You know every time I see a spoiler I think this happened in the movie {Spoiler}{Spoiler}John Cena Saves the the Day by AA'ing some sentinels and spraypainting Woverine is Poppy at Xavier's house

Spent the past three days re-watching all of the X-Men films. I'm really looking forward to Days of Future Past. I am really interested in seeing if they try to explain things like how Wolverine got adamantium claws again and how {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Cyclops and Jean Grey being are the film. Just a thought: You never actually see Scott die in The Last Stand and Jean Grey could be like a Phoenix and is reborn. Of course the time-travel aspect could explain them being there as well. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the movie. As good as the X-Men series has been, I can't help but think they dropped the ball on some things. First, they really blew it with Gambit. I remember Gambit being one of the most popular X-Men during the 1980s and 1990s with fans of the comics, toys, TV shows, and video games. Gambit basically felt tacked-in to the Wolerine origins movie. Another issue is one that I debated making a thread about, but I'll just post it here. I apologize for getting off-topic for the upcoming movie. It's almost hard to believe how they have handled Cyclops. I grew up with Cyclops being the de-facto leader of the X-Men. Professor X was like the father-figure leader of the X-Men, but when it came to a combat team, Cyclops was the A-1 leader. He was likable and the love interest of Jean Grey (eventually her husband). The films pretty much immediately turn you against him. We are first introduced to Wolverine and we quickly grow to like him as he takes-in Rogue, the other Mutant we were introduced to. As an audience, we grow to side with those we go a journey with and we went on a journey with Wolverine and Rogue. Cyclops is introduced as helping to save Wolverine and Rogue. He's also a bit cocky. He does't mind reminding Wolverine that he saved him. We first really meet Jean Grey as she is treating Wolverine and they share s scene where there is clear chemistry. Later, while Jean and Wolverine are together again, Cyclops enters the room and basically claims his territory. This is a pretty standard movie plot device. The male character we like starts connecting with an attractive women. Then the cocky boyfriend comes in and interrupts them. This is done all of the time because it gets us take sides and not like the boyfriend. Wolverine was the clear top male Mutant of the fighting X-Men. In the second film, Cyclops is captured for most of the film while the likes Wolverine, Storm, Magneto, and Mystique get to shine. In the third film: {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Cyclops dies near the beginning of the movie. And get this! His death isn't shown. I think James Marsden was a good enough choice for the role, but the problems were in the creative decisions. Yes, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is AWESOME and it's hard to compete with him and hard not to put him front and center. HOWEVER, The Avengers movie proved you can have big superheroes side by side and both of them come-off cool and likeable and both get to shined, even as their personalities can clash.

Just home from an early showing.
It's excellent. Loads of continuity issues from previous films left unexplained. Doesn't really cause a problem if you just go with it.

Just got back.
I'll keep it brief but I will it was pretty damn fun. My opinion it's the 3rd best X-Men film out of the series including the Wolverine movies.

So they're essentially just erasing the entire film.

Last week, the producer of the X-Films said in an interview "Let's just pretend those never happened" in regards to X-Men 3 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. They're not mostly undoing them, they're straight-up deleting them. Apparently there's a completely new origin for Logan winding up with the Weapon X project hinted at in this film as well.

Just saw it. Great time to be had here {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I found myself questioning the logistics of Quicksilver playing music in his headphones when he was bailing Eric, Charles and Logan out during the break-out...surely he'd only have listened to a few seconds of it in real time at the speed he was going.
The core of this movie was about Charles and Raven. Magneto played the , to quote Grant Morrison, "mutant terrorist twat" role supremly and thankfully didnt flip-flop throughout the picture like I'd been dreading, when he seized an oppertunity to assure a safe future in the most extreme measure he took it, we got just enough of the First Class chemistry and it was further complimented by the comradery of older Xavier and Eric as they reeled from the Sentinal attack in the future.
Love the little throw-backs to the old X-Men movies...not just playing chess and plastic prisons, but also the scene where Magneto deposits Logan in the water reminded me of the scene between him and older Eric on the bus in the first film
Hopefully now that Jean is alive, the comic handlers will cash in and bring her back properly in the comics instead of relying on her time jumping past incarnation.

I will perhaps give more thoughts tomorrow, but I just saw the film and it was a lot of fun. The film gives 20th Century Fox a lot of options for how they can to proceed with future films. As some have said, this film has in many ways erased X-Men: The Last Stand, though it was done via storytelling devices and not just through ignoring and retconning. They could make films with the 'new cast' or with the 'old cast' now. They even addressed some issues with continuity.
Just so you know, there IS a post-credits scene.

Just got back from seeing it, I liked it. I never saw First Class, but that didn't hamper me any. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Seeing all the X-Men from the 2000 film back at the end was the best part for me.
Also, the post credit scene with Apocalypse was well done. When the camera panned around him to show the four horsemen my arm hairs stood on end!

This is THE best X-Men movie in my opinion, fixing EVERYTHING from the old films, while leaving a fresh slate with either roster going forward. The workarounds from comic to movie are well explained (outside of what I assume is Kitty's secondary mutation), and the action beats hit perfect. Lastly, sorry Batman, but the goddamned Magneto has arrived.

Here is the problem some people have: Trask is actually killed after Vietnam....that is much earlier than the events of X-Men 3. It happens before the entire trilogy. His death is what propels the government into the dangerous movement which causes extinction...

What an absolutely incredible movie. Definitely the best X-Men movie. I was worried about the cast and plot being too crowded, but everything was handled so elegantly. The writing was sharp and smart, and just...f***, I really loved this movie.
