After seeing it twice and still insisting that there is going to be some sort of Disney/Sony alliance, I present the following theory: {Spoiler}Although it has been revealed that it is specifically ambiguous, the hooded figure talking to Connors during the stinger will be revealed to be Loki. It's the biggest longshot ever, but it makes some sense on a level. Loki is the adopted son of Odin, who felt abandoned and slighted by his "father." Loki has a thorn in his side over mischief he can cause to those abandoned by their fathers. Richard Parker is gone, and what better than to screw with the potential leader for the next generation of Avengers. It would make even more sense if they decide to make Peter's parents' agents of SHIELD.
I also say that if it ties into the next Avengers installment, that the events of ASM have taken place before the events of The Avengers, easily explaining why Manhattan hasn't been decimated yet. Now I await the backlash.... That's a helluva stretch and I cannot see it happening at all. What's the explanation for a lack of Spidey in "The Avengers" or the lack of knowledge on "Iron Man" in this film? That and what about when Hulk leveled Manhattan? Why would the police in ASM be so concerned with what Spidey did when Iron Man and Hulk exist already in this universe and have done the same things. My response is spoiler-tagged just incase... {Spoiler} Given the time frame, it is possible the Hulk damage could have been repaired. We could place this movie anywhere inside the Marvel movie universe timeline. I understand where you're coming from. But just suspend a little more disbelief and it makes sense. Fury could have been keeping tabs on Parker the entire time, but with Black Widow's history, wanted to wait until Parker was a legal adult and could make his own decision (and given all the stuff cut out, it makes even more sense; all the immediate reshoots make it seem as if it wanted to fool all of us from thinking they were thinking it too; it looked like it was going that way, with it being something genetically spliced before ASM even took place. I still stand by the theory that Sony wants to work something out with Disney so that they can get a cut of the profits of the next Avengers installment). The history in the comics between Stark and Osborn is so rich in story, and the contrast of the OsCorp building to Stark Tower. Osborn is dying here, and it sounds like another billionaire who was on the brink of death. There's so much to factor in when discussing the future of the Marvel movie universe.

He designed and built his own web-shooters. I think that's pretty damn smart. He even managed to design a good, functioning superhero costume on his own accord, too. Don't forget the gadget he created as a door lock.

Box Office wise, it's not done all that well.
377 million and change, which is barely half of what Spiderman 2 did, and falling far short of even half of the original or half of the awful third one.

Putting it out between The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises and retelling the origin are probably culprits 1 and 2. Regardless of one's feelings on the quality of the movie, it just didn't have that "must-see" vibe at all.

I think/hope this will be more like Batman Begins.. does ok in theaters, better on dvd, and then people get more excited for the sequel.

So I picked up the blu-ray. I love the movie more the second time, but also the deleted scenes of Doc Connors change the movie a ton, they show him to be sympathetic and conflicted. I wish they had integrated those in to the film.

One thing I never understood....What was the point of the silver-tipped shoes for the Spider-Man costume? Also, why the dark orange-esque eye lens on his mask?
(Just two random thoughts I've had)

I am not sure, but I think it was likely so they showed up on screen better. And I have to say, much as I love the traditional Spidey suit (especially with the pit webbing), I think Amazing's looked way better on screen and in motion than the one from the Raimi flicks.
