Seeing the thread about whether or not JTG should recreate Cryme Tyme got me to thinking about how sometimes when tag teams (or stables) break up, there's one guy who keeps the gimmick/clothing/music/etc. as the team, only for himself this time.
Marty Jannetty stayed as a Rocker, while Shawn Michaels became a unique persona.
X-Pac seemed to continue being a DX member no matter how few people the group consisted of.
Any others?

Bart Gunn after The Smoking Gunns broke up until he and Bob Holly formed The New Midnight Express comes to mind.

Bret Hart never really changed after the Hart Foundation days. Neidhart at least tried the New Foundation thing even though it wasn't as good as the Hart Foundation.

Paul London kept the gear and music when he and Brian Kendrick broke up.
When the Dudley Boyz were split up from the draft, Bubba Ray kept his gimmick while D-Von became a preacher.

Bret is one of the few to truly ever make it work like that, isn't he? Then again, he was helped by the fact that the Hart Foundation didn't truly have a gimmick, so to speak; it's not like they were over the top characters (outside of Anvil's shouting), so it was still presented as Bret just being himself. Also helped that both guys remained babyface after the breakup, with no animosity; when there's a split that ISN'T friendly and one guy keeps the gear/gimmick, it makes it look like the other guy dumped the whole thing for greener pastures, makes it look weak.

To a certain extent, we can say Booker T after the split with Stevie Ray. Sure, Stevie Ray reformed Harlem Heat with Ahmed Johnson *shrugs* but technically, up until that lame G.I. Bro gimmick, he still was the same.

I'd agree with Booker T. His character after Harlem Heat broke up could be seen as an evolution of the Harlem Heat gimmick, while Stevie Ray stayed pretty much the same.

Since the ones I was gonna say are gone, I'll go the super-easy route and say Brothers of Destruction.

Conquistador #2 went solo for a while and kept the gimmick.
I'm serious! Stop laughing!

Save for that spell in the York Foundation when he kinda changed his look to a more conservative business approach, Ricky Morton will always be a member of the Rock & Roll Express.

The Assassins whether working as a team or apart never changed their look.Jesse Ventura was the same when he was part of the East-West connection (with Adrian Adonis) as he was during his singles run,

Did'nt Richard Morton (While a member of the York Foundation) wrestle Robert Gibson who was still in r&r e gimmick mode.

Charlie Haas kept the same gimmick for awhile after Team Angle/WGTT broke up, while Sheldon went through a few changes including diff theme songs.

I think BOTH of them held onto the gimmick in different ways. Haas obviously kept the theme song, but kept changing up his ring attire. Shelton went through different theme songs and gimmicks, but ultimately wore the same WGTT-based attire for his whole WWE run, having only switched from a singlet to trunks with the same design, wearing different colors before finally settling on gold once he became The Gold Standard.

I thought that he wrestled Gibson while they were BOTH in the R'n'R Express garb right after Morton Joined. Gibson left very soon afterwards. Found a pic, unless he updated his look later on, Ricky looked about the same

Barbarian kept the Powers of Pain look for a while after they split while Warlord went with his Phantom of the Opera-style look pretty soon after.
