Okay so we all have probably read that Hulk Hogan is TNA's highest paid talent making approximately 33,000 dollars a night for appearing. This is approximately 1.5 million dollars a year if he appears on just TV if you throw in PPV appearances he is making 1.6-1.7 million a year off of TNA.
My question to everybody here is whether or not Hogan is really worth the money and if he is making TNA 1.7 million dollars a year in profit.
Hogan debuted about 2 and a half years ago and has been heavily involved in TNA since then but despite being a huge Hulk Hogan fan i don't really think he's worth 1.7 million dollars a year. TNA could probably drop Hogan and pick up Goldberg AND Batista for the same price and still have some left over for a guy like Morrison.
So is Hulk worth the money? Why? Why not?

Nope.
There's been virtually no change with him in any real, measurable, tangible positive way. At least not in any sustainable form.
The same money for his salary could likely be spent in other ways, especially if it's just gonna lead to status quo results.

Of course brother! You know how low all the ratings would be if Hogan hadn't come in Jack!

absolutely not -- his only ideas that were good were turning Roode heel and getting ring of that gimmick match where the object was to escape a cage that looks like a cone via the top of it

How much money would it cost to take a ppv on the road (as opposed to having it in the Impact Zone)?
And bearing in mind how active the live, non-zone fans can be (and the improvement that this response makes to the overall "feel" of a show), then deduct that total cost from the cost of having Hogan on the roster, and there you have my answer.
Even if the guy had somehow been able to secure the services of a Rock/Austin/Cena/Orton (and if said signing had been able to actively WRESTLE (sorry SCSA), then no, I just don't see Hogan '12 as being value for money.

Nope.
Promotional-wise, he's a bust. He can't seem to promote anything other than himself.
Ratings-wise, he's a bust. The ratings are at the exact same spot they were just before he came in, when the World Elite was the top heel faction. Hell, they might've been better then.
Storyline-wise, he's a bust. 10/14, anyone?

I am really upset with how the Hogan thing worked out.
If when Hogan had first come in, they had done what they are doing now - Austin Aries as a long-running champ being put over huge, Roode as a long-running champ with Storm chasing him, the BFG series, going live on THURSDAY rather than trying to create a MNW - the new viewers brought in by Hogan could've given the company some real momentum.
Instead they're just circling. At the very least, Hogan hasn't done THAT much damage. TNA is instead still mired in almost exactly the same place they used to be, albeit a bit worse off, without being any closer to shutting down.

If being able to cut promo's that continually refer to 'getting traction' and 'V8 engines' constitutes money well spent, then definitely yes. Otherwise definitely NO. But having said that, the majority of the crowd @ Wembley Arena in January were most definitely fans of automotive related promos so he must be doing something right...... As pointed out above, the money spent on his salary could have been used in SO many more productive ways (and this DOESN'T include hiring Batista)......

No, and I really wish TNA could hit the reset button and bring us back to December 2009, even if it means having Lashley on the roster.

Hogan? No. He's like Christy Hemme where he's just soaking up money for almost no reason.
Bischoff is arguable. His experience in production may have helped. Plus he's right that going live will help.
Honestly I think Prichard and Lagana are some of the biggest reasons for the upswing in quality.

Easy E is a great heel character, and he may not be as expensive as Hogan. I don't want to say it's just a bust looking at all the factors. But would TNA have gotten all their TV deals without Hogan? I think they could have personally but I'm not sure.
With the UK, their highest attendance was in January 2009 I think at almost 10,000, and that's the highest yet. A year before Hogan.

Hogan is always a professional.
And that's the problem, because his profession is Hogan himself, not whatever company he happens to be working for at any given time.
If TNA could harness some of his self promotional acumen and use it to promote the actual product rather than just promoting himself, then possibly they'd get some bang for their buck.
At this stage though no, the guy is just sort of there, getting the usual nostalgia pops whenever he appears, but then adding nothing of note to the product as a whole.

I get why they did it. That said...it failed Pretty much. It's easy to criticize in hindsight, but, in the moment, I get why they took the chance. Of course, it blew up in their faces in a huge way, but I get why they did it.
