I'd love for the 3ds port of Xenoblade to come out here in North America because I never got a chance to get the game when it came out a couple years ago (Lousy gamespot exclusivity) and don't feel like paying an exorbitant sum for the game on Ebay. Oh and Xenoblade appears to be exclusive to the newly announced models due to their improved hardware and speed. OH COME ON!

Very excited for the MK8 DLC. I haven't played this game nearly as much as the Wii version, I just had so much personal stuff going on during its release period. This freah coat of paint (LINK!!!) should renew some interest.

The new 3DSes are slightly stronger machines. It basically doesn't not have the exact same internal hardware. It means these new 3DSes are kind of a weird middle gen thing. They are technically still 3DSes, but are also technically new hardware.

Right but it isn't like this is the first time Nintendo did something like this. DSi had both games exclusive to it(DSiware) and games it couldn't play(any game that used the GBA slot).

Well, initial line-up of Amiibo's been announced - Mario, DK, Peach, Yoshi, Link, Samus, Villager, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Marth, and Wii Fit Trainer. Convenient I guess that no one in the first run interests me, I'll be holding out for Palutena, Pit, Lucina, Jigglypuff, and Rosalina.

But that at least had a different name. If they go through with calling this "New 3ds" it will be a bad move. They also had the expansion pack for the N64, but at least a decent amount of games that used it,came with it.

Have they announce proper battle maps for this update? I hope so... the race tracks for battle were a JOKE.

Kind of torn on the Xenoblade thing. On one hand, it does make the game more accessible and I've heard some good things (and some bad). On the other, given how whiny the fanbase for it was about it getting an American release I don't know that I want it to cost people less than $80 to get it used. Eh, I'll go with the side of not being a douche I guess. Pretty unlikely I'll give it a look though, its fanbase has kind of made it impossible for me to ever be objective about it. Well it doesn't help that noa were dicking around with the release in American when a full English dub was going to be released in Europe anyway. Finally it took Gamestop, of ALL people, to get the game release here. You can't blame the fandom for something that was Nintendo fault too.

That is true, in addition to the fact that some games were only playable on the DSi and not the DS or DS Lite because they utilized the DSi camera.

So I picked up Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright today and noticed Nintendo is cutting costs on their packaging again.... Instead of the usual stand alone Club Nintendo code voucher, guess where they put the code for this game? On the inside of the box art.....

I accidentally licked the first page, and started reading without paying attention. It was the same damn conversation about a new model of 3DS!

To be fair this is pretty much how it always goes when Nintendo unveils a new handheld variant. Everyone who just recently bought the current/now old model is all, "Aw what the hell?!", but now look at the XL, two years later and for most people it is the accepted 3DS.

Don't forget about the Game Boy Color. Still, this might end up becoming confusing with people buying games that are exclusively for the "New 3DS" thinking that they'll play on the "Old 3DS".

I do hope they give it a different name, or add an adjective, to differentiate.
The SUPER 3DS 64 Advance.

I never bought a DSi and the only reason I bought a Lite is because my first DS was stolen and my second my brother dropped in a swimming pull. Still have a standard 3DS (the blue one they put out at launch but soon stopped making) that I got the day before the price cut for the Ambassador Games which is a decision I don't at all regret even if I never play a few of them (for instance, F-Zero and Golf are both awful).
That being said, I might end up getting one of the new ones, but really only because a long time ago part of a stylus somehow broke off inside my 3DS and punctured through the bottom of it, and the stick seems weirdly off-center. Otherwise I'd probably just live without but I've been sort of wanting a second anyway for those reasons and for Pokemon purposes.
