Does anyone find it harder to buy into the more bizarre gimmicks/storylines now that WWE has entered this so-called "reality era"? I was thinking like that Ascension tag team on the new NXT, psycho AJ, or anything involving Kane or Undertaker. While most of these are good most of the time, I realize I find them hard to take seriously when there is a general shift in rooting storylines and characters closer to reality.

I just wish there were more of them. When gimmicks are done well ( Undertaker, Honky Tonk Man, Goldust, Mankind, JBL), they add a ton of the entertainment value of the show. I loved Lord Steven Regal in WCW.

I find it hard to take the Ascension seriously when I can still remember Connor O'Brien following a trail of cheese.

It's hard to take anything in this era seriously when they have the commentators laughing like a bunch of drunk fans during every interview segment.

I personally like the Ascension and also Bray Wyatt, it seems like FCWNXT has them but once they get called up they get rid of what makes the wrestler unique

I like the mix. That is what WWE does best. To use a cliché it is the 'three ring circus'. Something for everyone.

It's time for a bunch of gimmicks to debut just out of nowhere. These gimmicks shouldn't interact for a couple of months and when they do make it a hillarious backstage segment.
Gimmicks are just what got alot of people into wrestling. The old days were great just watching jobbers with gimmicks, midcarders with gimmicks and main eventers who were serious with mild gimmicks. They should bring them back because it would be memorable.

I find it hard to take the Ascension seriously when I can still remember Connor O'Brien following a trail of cheese. That menacing guy laughing evilly? Remember when he got KO'd by rat poison spray that Ricardo Rodriguez used on him?

They have fake looking produced backstage segments. How can anyone call this the Reality Era?
1997 wwf was more reality based than what we have now.
