Wizard of Oz episodes are pretty overdone. They can work, but it typically sucks. Similar to that is the It's A Wonderful Life and Christmas Carol episodes. Also the mad dash to stop somebody leaving (usually from an airport). Willy Wonka, Fantastic Voyage, Star Trek, etc.

The "stand up to bullies" episode in a lot of family sitcoms is usually a popular one. Naturally the kid stands up to the bully, the bully is shown up, and voila, problems are solved in one episode.
I'd just love to see a show where the kid does stand up to the bully but then gets smacked out or it gets worse (like what would often happen in real life).

But in the end the kid didnt stand up,but still solved his problems in his own way, simply letting the bully think he was in the top, instead os steping up

Shrinking episode.
Give me one cartoon that doesn't have it, I'll give you nine that do.

I think every season of Star Trek has a variation on "memorial device makes passersby relive a tragedy, usually a military massacre"
In Picard's case it was a whole damn lifetime at the end of a civilization.

The family goes on vacation, which means tons of on site filming! This was huge in the 90s. If it was an ABC show, they always went to Disneyland or Disneyworld. Other shows went to Hawaii or some European country. I guess they wanted to blow what was left of the budget and get a vacation out of it. Somewhat related, the camping trip gone wrong. In cartoons, the bear (or sasquatch) will sometimes be put in a sympathetic light.

Brain/personality switch.
Job/responsibility switch, complete with greater appreciation of others' abilities (though this is a good lesson to learn).
Win Some, Lose Some (character has to learn that they can't be perfect, even at the theings they're good at)

The widow/divorcee starting to date again and the child or children are totally against it because of the following: -If the mother/father is widowed, the kid doesn't want his/her parent to forget about her/his late husband/wife. -If the mother/father is divorced, the kid is sure that his/her parents will come back together.

The plot where all the main characters get killed off except the one who finds the MacGuffin that resets history back to the point in time before the incident started (usually the first scene of the episode), which has been used by every sci-fi show in existence.

I've been watching Voyager. I think this happens twice a season.

That's why it was refreshing when Mortal Kombat: Conquest did it, except for the end part....there was no going back in time, the main characters all got killed and Raiden had to bow down to Shao Kahn. What a nice ending.
