Things are obviously changing in WWE. It seems that their product is finally starting to reflect the change in society and the influence that the Internet has had.
The WWE Champion has always been popular on the internet and seems to echo the opinions of those fans. His rival and the current authority figure is is someone that the internet has disliked for years.
The World Champion fits the same demographic, while the US Champion is one of the most over guys in the company after becoming popular on the internet. They're also pushing Twitter on screen and using YouTube as a tool for vignettes.
The sudden change is definitely a bit more than a coincidence...

But the odd thing is that the internet is starting to LOVE the authority figure that they hated for years...
I don't think we're in a new era YET, but I believe we're in the middle of a major transition.

I don't think we're in a new era YET, but I believe we're in the middle of a major transition. Well, there's a good reason for that. When he was some anonymous face in WWE corporate that all we ever got was stories about the awful shit he did that seemed to check out, we believed it. Then he got on TV, and pretty much all of us decided "Wow...this guy's hilarious!"
