Okay, after losing a match to Bryan Show gets up and hits the WMD and knocks him out. He prepares to beat Bryan down and maybe end his career, but appears to have second thoughts
Cole grabs a mike and starts encouraging him to finish him off. Until he says something like "he humiliated you you idiot!" and that pisses Show off and he flattens Cole and walks away from Bryan ending the heel turn threat

I'd rather see Big Show go full heel. I never thought he worked well as a face.
I can get behind Bryan beating Show but it has to be done in the right way or else it won't he believable.

....or they could have a series of well-planned, competitive matches where Big Show's size and strength and Bryan's technique and speed are portrayed as being equally effective and Why is everyone looking at me like that?

There doesn't have to be a "story". The story is already there. The david vs goliath stuff is classic wrestling and is solid enough to last this fued. When was the last time that Big Show was involved in a storyline that highlighted his in-ring skills anyway? This is fresh for him.

See here's my opinion-
I think this Big Show/Daniel Bryan stuff is (for me at least) Must See. If they work this properly, they could be on the brink of a true must see feud that we haven't seen from WWE in a while. Like other posters have mentioned, you have the strength and power of Show and the technical perfection of Bryan. It's all the make-up of a memorable feud that could be one of the biggest Wrestlemania matches we've seen in a long time.
I can see some sort of a legendary Wrestlemania moment coming from these guys. Maybe I'm putting too much stock in them, but I really think this is the feud that could propel DB into true superstardom and put Big Show over as a monster threat again.

Because he's feuding with Big Show, Show never has feuds, he has a series of quasi-competitive squashes against his opponent before he finally vanquishes them.

I'd have show do a mini-turn where after taunting from Cole, who realizes he can use this to destroy Daniel Bryan once and for all, he snaps and beats the crap out of Bryan, causing Bryan to go into badass fighting champion mode and take on the Big Show on a Smackdown at the midpoint of the 6-week buildup to the Royal Rumble. Mark Henry would interfere, causing the match to get thrown out and the feud to be unresolved. Henry says he wants HIS rematch, and a Triple Threat is made for the Rumble. Somehow, Bryan survives, and this establishes him as a take-on-all-comers badass.
But the Show-Bryan feud isn't done (Bryan pinned Henry at the Rumble) and it's the thread that carries us into Elimination Chamber, where the last 2 are Bryan and Show, who finally have thier big epic encounter, which Bryan wins. After the match, Show gets up and looks frustrated, with the announcers speculating on what he might do while Daniel Bryan struggles to get to his feet. Show then helps up Bryan, shakes his hand and raises his arm, as Daniel Bryan has proven himself to the Big Show and gained a very powerful ally in the process.
THEN on the next Smackdown I'd have Show talk about gaining respect for Bryan in-ring until Cole grabs a mic and runs down Show, and THEN Show knocks Cole out, turning Show back into a megaface and taking Cole off TV for a a few weeks, maybe until the go-home for 'Mania.
After that, I'd have a fighting scrappy underdog face v. a dickish bullying face feud in Bryan v. Orton for 'Mania, where after Bryan wins Orton actually DOES turn heel on Bryan.

Show totally dominates in the first 5 minutes, before Bryan mounts a comeback by targeting his legs with kicks and getting on the proverbial bicycle. Bryan also uses some understandably dirty tactics like biting, because he's going to need some kind of leverage against somebody twice his size. In the end Show is about to knockout a beaten down Bryan, but he starts to show some sympathy for him. Bryan takes advantage of this and quickly locks in the LeBell lock, and Show taps.
Show still stays face because he had sympathy for Bryan, and Bryan gets a big boost by making Show tap.

I like this idea. Maybe Show has him in a bearhug or up for a chokeslam and he manages to get the head & into a guillotine? That way, Show still looks like a monster & Brian comes off looking like he's used his technical knowledge to scrape a win.

There's no way they're going to put him over as heavily as some of the suggestions here want. Especially the one where he beats Orton at WM and causes Orton to turn. Honestly, Orton is over as f*** with the live crowds and I don't think that would work at all.
I think he plays the part of Kurt Angle, guy who keeps belt warm until they decide what they really want to do with the SD WM main event.

I think people had it right when they were pessimistically predicting Bryan will get a Mysterio run with the title, losing a lot and being an "underdog."

I actually think what they will do is have Show dominate Bryan in the pre-match doings, but once the match rolls around, Bryan eventually kicks his legs out of his legs like a madman, and chokes him out/makes him tap decisively. Kind of what Show wanted to do with Punk at December to Dismember, before Vince vetoed it. Bryan gets the huge rub he needs this way, and it makes WWE come across as a bit unpredictable.
Then keep Show off TV for a bit... bring him back for the Shaq business. That's the thing about Show: you can job him out, and just keep him off TV for a while, and still bring him back as a monster.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had Mark Henry involved in some way. Maybe it involves Mark taking Show out completely or stunning him enough during a Big Show/D-Bry no DQ match, so Bryan can put him in a submission move or get the pin.
