You could argue that recently it's been a lot more relaxed with Cult of Personality and Metalingus, but in the past WWE has always replaced themes for PPVs like Wrestlemania with their generic themes. Why bother if they know they're going to replace them?

I'd love for them to use the early-90s Wrestlemania theme again. Sure, it doesn't fit with the times, but it's good cheesy fun. Besides, it makes the event feel more like a big deal.

I think it would be incredible if they licensed Layla for Layla's entrance music.

a catchy song that people know usually works for hype videos better then generic production tracks.
IMO, the greatest video package they ever did was the Rock/Austin vid with "My Way". Watch the new DVD and hear that replaced with "Adrenaline Rush" (the old TNA theme), voila an amazing vid turned to crap.

Im pretty sure they get paid to, at the point they do it its advertisement where they show "and the PPV theme is by whatever band, avalible on i tunes today" and they dont just include that advertisement as cross promotion as a deal to use the song, WWE actually gets paid to do so, not on the dvd of the ppv.
Thats diferent than using a licensed song for an entrance where most times the wwe would have to pay the performer, not the other way around.

All I know is whenever Undertaker comes back, I'll be disappointed if he doesn't use Ain't No Grave

I absolutely love all those themes; made the events feel epic, and branded each season of the year (Rumble - Winter; WM - Spring; SummerSlam; Survivor Series - Fall) with it's own theme. A little cheesy now, sure, but I think they kind of hold up.

I would like them to use the 80s one again with the saxaphone. I don't think they can though because they replaced it at the intro of the Wrestlemania 1 DVD.
