If you could bring one of your favorite low card guys back up the ladder, how would you do it?
Here's my idea.
At TLC, Dolph Ziggler drops the U.S. Title to Zack Ryder and ascends into the main event. Ziggler decides that Ryder is not worth his time, and waives his rematch by giving it to Jack Swagger. Swagger decisively beats Ryder for the U.S. Title at the Royal Rumble after he catches a Rough Ryder attempt and plants him with a powerbomb
Swagger steam rolls through the entire midcard, and then one night on RAW, he comes out and cuts a promo saying that no one can stop him. He is interrupted by Alex Riley, but Swagger quickly laughs Riley off and cuts this promo:
"Is this the best that the WWE has to give me? Alex, you don't belong here. The only reason you're even standing in front of me right now and not in a jail cell is because you rode the coattails of a wannabe celebrity who happens to work here. Your biggest claim to fame is ME dropping you on your head and into obscurity. Now get OUT of MY....RING before I make you even more irrelevant than you already are."
Riley is angered by Swagger's words and snaps on him. This leads to a match between Swagger and A-Ry at WM28 for the United States Title. Riley has his feel good Wrestlemania moment by winning his first title from the very same man that knocked him down the ladder.
Later on in the night, The Miz wins the WWE Championship from CM Punk cleanly. As Miz celebrates regaining the WWE Title, the new U.S. Champion Riley comes out. Riley shows off the U.S. title as if to tell Miz, "You said I was nothing without you, and I proved you wrong." Miz smiles, proud of his former protege, and the two former friends reunite and hug in the center of the ring as champions. The Riley/Miz hug serves to effectively turn Miz face, as John Cena will turn heel on The Rock at the end of the night. The dynamic between Miz and A-Ry changes from Riley being Miz's lackey, to Miz being Riley's biggest supporter (similar to Cena/Ryder's relationship).
