Before the Miz/Morrison match, we got a random Alex Riley sighting.
Looking at R-Truth's suspension and Morrison's departure, Miz's current angle appears to be trying to steam roll his former partners, whom he considers "dead weight" that has been "holding him back." Could this be a possible opportunity to restart Alex Riley's push?
I watched Riley's matches on Superstars, and they seemed to be really solid. In fact, I would say Riley is not the horrible stumbling botch machine that some have made him out to be.
Despite being depushed, Riley seemed to be well protected by the WWE. He was built as a credible threat to Ziggler & Swagger (even after the "sandbag"), and was undefeated on Superstars until last week, and was never embarrassingly jobbed out to any of the rising stars like Morrison was. In spite of his lowercard status, it even took getting ganged up on by Awesome Truth to eliminate him from that 41 man battle royal on SmackDown a few weeks back.
Could they have Miz try to go after Riley next week only for Riley to turn him back, leading to a short feud (which Miz would win of course) until Truth returns from suspension.

Personally I'm not a fan. I find him way too generic, like, there have been some cookie cutter looking guys come into WWE, but he takes the cake. He's ok, but there are definitely better.

They use his silhouette for the mystery opponent graphics. I think that right there tells you how generic he looks.

He and McCintyre have been wrestling a lot, even tonight. Really, this guy... I don't know where to begin. The audience cared little for him and he made McCintyre look like Flair from 82 by comparison.
I don't know what can be done with him. I think it's about worth it to just not have him wrestle, maybe work him into a role as commentator.

Every second they spend trying to push Alex Riley is taking time away from the many talented FCW guys who could be in that spot instead.

They dropped the ball badly with him. He was over during the feud with Miz and remained over afterwards until he disappeared.

They generic'd him up
He was fine as the varsity villain. the gimmick was over w/ the crowd. what do they do? drop it...
its a regular occurrence with most NXT'ers
Otunga was fine as the "A-List" (star designed haircut, sunglasses, attitude) what do they do? turn him into the black Christopher Nowinski...
and the one that sickens me most...DERRICK BATEMAN
his "chicks & america" schtick was waaaaay over with the crowd, but as always, they found a way to f^ck it up.

This may be oversimplifying things, but honestly there is nothing "face" about his face. I think he's a natural heel.
Although I'm not a huge fan, if they can accentuate his good points and hide his flaws, I think he's a serviceable midcard heel.

How can you discuss generic-fying NXT guys and NOT mention Percy Watson?

No, start rebuilding him next week after Miz completely tears him apart.

He needs an actual character, some motivation. He was over against Miz because, well, people hate Miz, and they had a past link, but then he has no direction other than fighting Miz, he's like Virgil, he can only fight 1 guy right now and people will care.

' He was sort of over against Ziggler, but then everyone and their mother (Swagger, Morrison, Ryan, Ryder although I like the guy) got inserted into the feud until Riley got bumped out altogether.

Tonight was pretty much the first I've seen of his new character, so I guess I don't really have the grounds to bash it. I really wasn't impressed, though. I liked him better as a pompous, flashy asshole.

Replace 'building' with 'lease' and I'd say yes.

Honestly I think it would be best if they turned him heel and had him join Dolph and Swagger in a new version of the Varsity Club stable with Mike Rotundo(who is a WWE producer) as their coach. YOu could still have Vicki with them as well.
